You people are funny... instead of "reading" headlines how about make a decision based on actual facts... The judge should be talking with the family to see if they have a problem or not with the girl's religion... He should examined the girl's true intent on converting... is she converting just to **** off her parents? Is she dramatizing "honor" killing or is it real? At that age, teens are very rebellious and in America, that behavior is deemed acceptable... I don't categorically put everyone of one religion into one pigeon-hole... I look at the dynamics of the situation... I would want to know what it is about Christianity that she feels is so important... if she ran away... how? and where was she staying? With her boyfriend? That should sound alarm bells that she is just being rebellious... on one hand, she is 17 turning 18... does "X" amount of months really matter? When she turns 18, she'll leave anyways... Given how old she is, I allow her to leave... and they can work out their attitudes later in life...

The age is a point. I really do not think they can FORCE her to go home at the age she is. Once a kid is 16 courts are often hesitant to force them to do much of anything.

One would have to think that sending her home might amount to a death sentence knowing how the "peaceful" religion of Islam often results in homour killings,
On the other hand, what if a 17 year old Christian decided to convert to Islam, Judaism or join the Catholic church and had the same fears and fled their home?

Fla. judge could decide runaway convert's fate - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090821/ap_on_re_us/us_runaway_convert - broken link)
This is a tough one - because as far as I'm concerned it's an out of the frying pan into the fire situation. I wouldn't make her return home against her will nor would I be comfortable with her staying with the Global Revolution Church.

I would seek a third alternative, but I'm not sure what that would be.
