What happened to France and Italy? I keep wondering that if they are ranked the highest, why are we not referring to them? They are obviously doing something right. There are 17 countries that rank higher than the UK, so why are we not focusing on them? Oh yeah, it's a right wing thing.

I just returned from Europe. I was in France and the UK and both Countries feel that Americans must be extremely gullable to believe the lies and horror stories about their health systems.
Not one person that i spoke to, and i spoke to as many as possible, disliked their health system. They all told me that they were not restricted in choices of Doctors or treatments. I accompanied my friend in the UK when she had to go to her Doctor for her contraceptive pill. She gets six month supply and has a her blood pressure checked etc every six months before being prescribed more contraceptives. I was told that even condoms are given free to try to reduce unwanted pregnancy. My friends script cost her approx $4 for six months supply of contraceptive pills.
The Doctors surgery was like any here in the USA and we waited 10 minutes to be seen. I asked the Doctor if he would want to work in the USA and he said he had worked in a Hospital in America as part of his training and would not want to repeat the experience. He thought that the medical system in America was extremely biased towards certain groups in society and he didn't become a Doctor just to get mega rich or pander to the fortunate with money or company health cover. He thought the American health system was quite obscene and he said 99% of British Doctors felt the same.
Having seen the UK system up close has made me realise that we have a long way to go before our health system in America becomes one of the Worlds top health systems and uhc's work in every Country that they have been introduced into. Australia is a "New World" country just like us yet they have implemented a working uhc that Australians didn't want but now love. It is definately not the best health system in the world here and is eclipsed by the uhc countries, yet we are afraid to move forward. Too many big corporations will lose money with a uhc here and prefer Americans to lose their lives than get a workable health system for everyone.

the fact that any dem/liberal , whatever, is defending the canadian or UK system just shows how the debate has been shifted by repubs to yet another lie. (i have nothing against the CDN or BRT systems.)

why don't we start talking about the swiss system instead? it'd be a far more realistic debate.

the repubs are dirty but they know how to play the game. I really wish dems would take a page from their book for a change.
I did post a thread asking what Americans thought of the Swiss system (complete with links to how it works) and weather it was applicable to the U.S. I got no replies though.

I would not have a problem with UHC in his country as long as it is not government run, possibly a voucher system. I have medical and dental through my retirement plan, I contribute about 120 bucks a month, I have had 3 surgeries and several procedures done since I retired. Everything was paid for by insurance and I was completely satisfied. Thank God for America! Some how I feel this would have been a huge quagmire under a government run system.

From the article,
I am sure they share services, similarly the way they do between hospitals in the states.

Get in line if you need something done otherwise you are SOL if this scambill passes.

Only the losers and welfare types ( Boy do we have them too! ) like the socialized HC in Canada because it is a handout from those who actually work and earn.
You hit the nail.....In Houston, the Medical Center there treats over 1800 Canadians on average per year...

Really then why all the riots in Europe. Always praise from the maddening crowd when they get something for nothing; not so much when they have to pay.

But you see (or maybe you don't), you are being subsidized (and heavily) by others. You certainly are not paying the actual cost of your retiree insurance.

You should be aware that your good retiree insurance could be dropped tomorrow. And many employers have done just that. Perhaps you are on Medicare and your retiree insurance is supplemental to it? That type of insurance is also dwindling away.

The point is many (if not most) people do not have the kind of employer retiree insurance that you describe. And they don't get something similar until they reach age 65 and are eligible for Medicare.

Way more Americans travel outside the US for medical care than foreigners travel to the US.

How many times do I have to spell things out to the Hipster-Socialists. The US Of Retardistan is broke and would F***-up UHC so badly it would make The Congo look smart in comparison. I could just image the amount of fraud, waste and boondoggles that would occur on a daily basis if Retardistan attempted UHC......LMFAO.

Sorry Hipster-Socialists, the US Of Retardistan will never have UHC...and that is a GOOD thing.
