The answer is of course: Raise taxes.

But ask yourself why did the previous Administration cut taxes and spent our way into wars that have now nearly bankrupted the country?

(I think it's funny that the Democrats are labeled - sometimes rightly so - the "Tax and Spend" party. But it's far more ironic that the Republicans could be called the "Cut Taxes and Spend" party. The first approach, while reprehensible, does not lead to bankruptcy.)

Please explain.

Obama is a marxist, the evidence is overwhelming. Just look at his past, his mother was a hardcore marxist and instilled certain beliefs in Obama from a young age.
Hard core Marxist??? Member of the CP, the SWP, PL, RCP which?

Socialist generally aren't church goers. Anyway, I've known quite a few Red Diaper Baby's most of whom became investment bankers and other "hardcore" capitalist so I find all this ranting rather funny.

I suppose the reason why I find all of this so hysterically funny is that as a former REAL Socialist, I find nothing in Obama's policies or behaviors that would remotely put him within the ranks of any of the varieties of Marxist that I have known, fought with, and fought against during that ideological period in my life. In point of fact, Obama would have been ridiculed as just another capitalist reformist/apologist not even a decent social democrat.

But carry on, it's far to entertaining to stop now.

Yes that is the answer..new taxes but Obama said no new taxes for $250K and under and he seems to be sticking to that promise. This could end up in worse shape then either SS or medicaid.

Yeah I wish he'd just come out and say that he needs to tax us. I mean if the American people would think clearly for one second they'd see that the country being in a recession means that we are ALL going to have to pitch in to get us out of this hole the previous administration dug us into. But its like Obama is trying to make every single person in America like him so hes trying hard not to enact a new tax. If he manages to tip toe through this thing without ever raising taxes, then the conservatives may just be right when they call him the "messiah" because that would be a miracle.

I agree with you. (And - horror! - I am a liberal!) So how do we get out of this? I hate the way discourse on this site always devolves into Left vs. Right diatribes. I'm far more interested in hearing from all sides how we, as Americans, can solve this crisis.

Right again.

Right again.
I see items they can cut and not have an effect on healthcare.
For example: the healthcare bill will fund someone learning English, getting their GED and then going to nursing school. I say just pay partial for nursing school and they have to go get any prerequisite education on their own. There's plenty of money in other programs to help them.

But then, once it's cut to the bone...Obama has to go back on his promise and tax people. Even so, Mass. has a pretty big deficit from their program and it's barely 3 years old. So this will be an increasing tax unless the administration goes after big pharma and the insurers to actually get costs down.

There is a history lesson close to our own shores.During the Cuban revolution Castro never revealed his true ideology. It was not until long after Batista was ousted and Fidel and his thugs were firmly in control of Cuba that he came out and announced to the world that he was a Marxist.Shortly after that Soviet "advisors" began arriving in Havana.Does anyone really believe that Obama would have been elected had he revealed his true leanings? We are only 7 months into his administration.Brace yourselves for more blows from the far left.

O so because Castro waited until he was in power to announce his agenda, that proves Obama is a socialist... Haha the logic of conservatives never stops to amaze me.

This is getting funny. Many of those on the right consider Obama to be a hard line Marxist, but the real Socialists/Marxists do not consider him one of their own?Either one group is very wrong or else both positions have elements of truth. The Communist Party(CPUSA) is said to be absolutely ecstatic about the election of Obama, and that raises flags. For the good of the nation I would very much hope to be wrong about Obama, but everything tells me that we are right.
