When Bush was president,
I remember that anything that he said was taken as a fact, so much, that George Bush would come up with weird ways to call things and the media would take them as "new phrases" = Axis of evil, war on terror, etc, etc.
Today, president Obama can't say 1 word without the media asking if what he said is true and the 1st lady is treated as if she was Britney Spears (visit to the Queen of England, $500 shoes, her shorts, etc, etc, etc)
Does the media treat President Obama and his family as the leaders of the free World?
No comments from the "Patriotic moral values party"?
So, were you asking a real question or simply looking for an argument? If the latter, I find that quite disingenuous.
In response to the original question, I really don't think much of the press today but if I were to venture a guess, I think they think Obama has a bit of growing and maturing to do to fit into that role. Preaching to the masses does not equate to leadership.
After the europeans rejected his leadership at the G20 ;I'd would think not. They were like:are you crazy;we are not about to follow you into that type of debt.
