Big difference between me posting something unintelligible and you not understanding it. The reason you find it unintelligible is because you are not following the thread. You have a nice day.
Since contraception is more effective today, what rationalization can be made for why we still need abortion?
Is there any contraceptive that is 100% effective?
The pill, iuds, condoms... shessh, not sure what even is available these days!
And... if the lady wasn't on a contraceptive because she was abstinent, would you blame her for not being on one and then wanting an abortion because she was raped or horribly experienced incest?
2012: Abortion becomes illegal. An 18 year-old dirt poor, unemployed, high-school dropout was forced to give birth to a baby she would have rather aborted. The father is MIA. Three of the babies grandparents have already passed away and the sole surviving one is addicted to crack-cocaine. When she sees the new miracle she falls instantly in love with it's beautiful brown skin and wonders how she could have ever thought of ending the life of something so wonderful. New mommy and baby are left to fend for themselves. When mother and baby leave the hospital she goes down to social services and applies for food stamps, WIC, monthly welfare checks, Section-8 to pay her rent, applies for state provided insurance coverage for the baby, and applies for charity care at the local hospital for herself.
Would you grant her all that she applies for? And if so, for how long?
I absolutely would grant her those things. I would also provide her with parenting classes, nutritional classes, job training classes, and day care when she goes to work until the child is in school or until she earns enough to pay for it herself. I would encourage her to join in support groups for young moms through her church or community center. Small price to pay.

Yes, until she can get back on her feet to care for her baby.

We might as well be realistic. I know a woman (not a friend) - on welfare, section 8, food stamps, receives 1300/mo for child care (even tho she doesn't work) and has 4 children. All have been left back in school. Her ten yr old is still in the 2nd grade. All three boys cannot read. They live in the bronx. They will produce more children that will do the exact same thing. These people don't know how to get on their feet and the money isn't working. It's so depressing.
