Final Weekend of 'Clunkers' Program Draws Big Crowds - Political News - FOXNews.com

"From Vermont to California, exhausted but appreciative car dealers watched their lots grow empty as crowds rushed to trade in gas guzzlers during the final weekend of the popular Cash for Clunkers program.

"Standing outside one of his Hyundai dealerships in Appleton, Wis., John Bergstrom said customers traded in 100 clunkers throughout his fleet of 20 dealerships on Saturday and 100 the day before. They were his two biggest sales days during the clunkers program.

"That's about as good as it gets," Bergstrom said. "It's going out with a bang."

In all, Bergstrom said his dealerships -- whose brands include Ford, GM and Toyota -- sold 800 cars during the program, boosting sales 30 percent. He had to bring in extra staff to deal with the paperwork, but the sales were worth the hassle, Bergstrom said."

Sounds stimulating

Try as they may, Fox couldn't even twist this story.

Nah, the wingnuts will claim it's socialism to sell so many cars that extra employees were hired to keep up with the demand. We don't want that now do we.

It's all to help the cause. Everyone has to "feel the pain".
We owe it to GM to keep sales going.

We own over 60% of GM. If you think about it we're just paying ourselves back. In the long run the government is running on "funny money" but it's keeping Americans in jobs and those Americans get real money in paychecks.

I say let the game go on ....

It's funny, in yet another thread you guys valiantly defend the prior Right Wing Majority Leader's participation in this program and new Prius purchase. Talk about a bunch of hypocritical boulder dash.

I am doing my part recently bought an AMERICAN made car and actually paying for it myself. I"m not asking you to pay for it for me. So dont tell me I'm not doing my part.

Wanna talk about stingy kid. I give more to charity then our Vp so lets talk about it.

I do and give a lot difference is I do it because its the right thing to do not to sit around and brag about I'm helping someone to get some type of credit.
