Congratulations!

I wonder, though, if you're so smart, why you gave any credence to a second (third? fourth?)-hand story Michael Savage told about what some "Liberal mother" allegedly said?

Dude, back away from the radio. . .

See, that's the point of why the UC system does that. In hopes of those to continue to foster knowledge in their communities. UCSB is still VERY homogenous economically. It has the lowest percentage of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Everybody is suburban upper middle class. They want to include more diverse communities to take advantage of its programs so people can contribute back. To be strictly racial is one thing, but to acknowledge a hard background (regardless of race) is another.

Or why they created a thread about a topic they heard a year or two ago.

I wonder why you wonder if I am smart or not? I have plenty of posts on many topics in various forums, that you are more than welcome to read, and then you can be the judge for your self.

I started this thread just to dialogue about something that was said by a conservative radio talk show host who basically was ranting about a liberal mother who, in his opinion, suffers from a mental illness because she didn't have a problem with a less qualified minority child getting admitting into a university over her more qualified child. I don't think the issue for him was what type of university the mother's child wanted to attend, but it was the mother's willingness to be PC and not have a problem with her child being denied admission. That segment was dealing with liberalism and many liberals logic--whether you agree with them or not.

By the way, this topic must be interesting due to the number of replies. Give me some credit for at least making people dialogue about it.

I wonder why you wonder why I wondered whether you were smart or not, since that's not what I said. I wondered why you gave any credence to that nutjob, given that you're so smart.

But now I'm wondering whether you're smart or not.

Good job on creating a dialogue, though.

Funny, and I am really ha ha ha h a haing at you. But, you replied to my op with a question regarding whether or not I am smart. So are you saying, if I am reading between the lines--inferencing, that dumb people listen to conservative talk show hosts? Now that's not fair or open minded at all, even if you don't agree with any conservative talk show hosts.

Why must we turn this topic into a big generalization? All I was trying to do get people to dialogue about a mother's thinking in regard to her child, and it wasn't me attacking any liberal person for thinking like this mother. All I am trying to do is to try and understand her logic because if someone asked me the same question about my highly qualified black child getting denied over a less qualified white, asian, or mexican child, I would unequivocably say, "Yes, I have a problem with that," and I wouldn't be PC about it at all. Right is right, and fair is fair, and, like Michael Savage, where's the logic in not fighting for your child's potential future.

It does not exemplify "Liberal" thinking, unless you believe that a sample size of 1 is really accurate portrayal of 150 million people.

The title of this thread is "A Liberal Mother's Logic," and I deliberately titled it that way so that no one was thinking that I was attacking LIBERALS as a whole.
