You guys need to read up on your news. At one of these "town hall meetings" another wingbat went on a similarly crazy rant about democrats being Nazis to Rep. Barney Frank. Unlike this congressman, though, Frank responded appropriately. Among the things he said to the wingbat were:
"When you ask me that question, I'm going to revert to my ethnic heritage and ask you a question: On what planet do you spend most of your time?"
"Trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table, I have no interest in doing it."
Yeah, that "proud marine" sure does talk big for someone who suckles from the government teat, getting paid with money that was COERCED from ME and everyone else in a huge SOCIALIST program - our military.
So you have the commie there whining about the government staying away from his kids and whatever else, but when payday comes, he's right there in line with his hand out, demanding the money that the government STOLE from me and every other taxpayer through COERCION, taking it like the MARXIST that he is.
Funny how ignorant and two-faced some people are that they claim they don't want socialism even while they're benefiting directly from socialism.
You know, in many other nations, people serve their nation for no pay. Did this guy do that? Or did he take full advantage of the socialist program where the government coercively steals from others to put money in his pocket???
I guess his point is that socialism is only OK when HE says it's OK, and it's not OK when he disagrees with it.
This man is clearly an idiot. First, as an earlier poster pointed out, National Socialism is not the same as Socialism. The Nazi idiology pulled from both right and left wing politics, but was formed mostly from right-wing, nationalistic groups.
Second, the man riles against Socialism (as if that were actually being proposed in the health care reform debate), yet he proudly mentions his membership, hell his devotion, to the largest government run socialist institution in the United States - the military. What a raging hypocrite.
SHAME ON YOU. He served this country and has a right to speak as he wishes...
I'm sorry, but BS is BS. He served this country, and I admire him for that. But, he was being an idiot at the town hall, and appears looking more for a few minutes of fame than having any constructive substance on the issue at hand.
If paying for every person's healthcare is the problem we could reduce costs by nationalizing the insurance industry and privately owned hospitals and clinics. They would save the costs of profits and executive salaries and bonuses. Staff would be paid generous federal salaries and supplies and medicines supplied by the lowest qualified bidders. Quality standards and domestic production requirements would be strictly enforced.
The money could be supplied through a highly progressive all income tax based on income from all sources, with a large deductable that would excuse 2/3 the population, Tax levied on a Federal level and supplemented with the revenue collected from countervailing tariffs on imports that do not meet US labor, health and environmental standards. The results of these programs would be a universally available health care and many, many more jobs for American workers.
Is that left wing enough for you? I am just getting started. Next is government ownership and operation of natural monopolies like electric utility and other energy supply and distribution systems.
PS The Marine is a government employee and, to many of you, part of the problem. I respect him for his profession but not for his politics.
Solutions: start with tort reform, no free care for illegals, and the ability to go across state lines for insurance coverage, and you have a start of the solution.[/quote]
You seem to be new here so you may not know that most of these fallacies have already been addressed and disproved.
1. Tort costs only represent 1.5% of the total costs. You have 98.5% to go.
2. Insurance companies can already operate across state lines. All that is required is that they comply with the state laws just like any other corporation. These are just myths propounded by the insurance companies.
3. I don't really know the impact on treatment for illegals, but are you suggesting that a mother comes to deliver a baby that she be turned away if she does not have the ability to pay?
Again, incorrect - 46 million Americans is the estimate of people on in the country without insurance. Subtract illegals and people that CHOOSE to go without insurance, and the number is closer to 15 million Amiercans that can't afford healthcare.
For the record, I would defend this man because he has defended me.
Solutions: start with tort reform, no free care for illegals, and the ability to go across state lines for insurance coverage, and you have a start of the solution.
I agree with the above statement. This unfortunately is far to easy and uncomplicated for the left.

Frank can't answer a question. From Michael Moron Moore to the Dixie Chicks we heard repeatedly how Bush was a Nazi. You simply can't take what you dish out.
