A little payback from obama and the dems for all the support the union provides - then and now;

$10B aimed at union retirees | Detroit Free Press | Freep.com (http://www.freep.com/article/20090824/BUSINESS01/908240321/1318/-10B-aimed-at-union-retirees - broken link)

Quote:
They're both talking about a $10-billion provision tucked deep inside thousands of pages of health care overhaul bills that could help the UAW's retiree health-care plan and other union-backed plans.
We know there are nuggets like this all through these bills, don't we?

Quote:
Greg Mourad of the National Right to Work Committee called it "a shameless case of political payback," saying Democrats and President Barack Obama are trying "to force the rest of us to pay billions to cover those unions' health care."
This is nothing more than a surreptitious bailout of the unions, once again. The unions have underestimated their health care plans and do not have the resources to pay for it - and they expect the taxpayers to foot the bill by way of obamacare.

Outrageous.

I wonder how many people realize the unions will most likely be exempt from obamacare?

Great post! Keep up the good work!

Notice all the liberals in this thread defending this...Cricketsville. Maybe even they are starting to find it nauseating that their tax dollars are going places that don't benefit most of them at all!

Even though I vote a strait Republican ticket, as a Michigander I would like to apologize to the nation for the election of Michigan Reps. Boner, Levin, Conyers, Dingell; Sens. Levin and Stabenow plus our socialist Governor Granholm. What they do in the name of supporting organized labor is simply generational theft and organized corruption.

Editorial: Taxpayers shouldn't pay for UAW's rich health care benefits | detnews.com | The Detroit News (http://www.detnews.com/article/20090825/OPINION01/908250316/1008/Editorial--Taxpayers-shouldn-t-pay-for-UAW-s-rich-health-care-benefits - broken link)

Quote:
In effect, it would ask every taxpayer, regardless of whether they'll have health insurance coverage themselves after they retire -- and most won't -- to chip in to maintain the UAW's coverage, which even after the union's givebacks is still better than what the average American worker receives.
It's good others find this outrageous as well.

Thought this deserved a bump.

The unions did a lot to improve working conditions and workplace safety over the years, and I'm thankful for that. Their work is done now, however, and they need to step back and leave things alone.

The only reason they exist in this day and age is to rape the employers in order to justify their existence to their members. It's disgusting.
