[quote=saganista;10448620]Quite so, and independent surveys show that half to two-thirds of those kids who supposedly don't buy health insurance because they see themselves as invincible would love to buy if they had access to coverage and could afford it, but they can't and don't. And millions of those who supposedly could sign up for SCHIP or Medicaid actually can't because of waiting periods (up to 12 months in some states), and the average "transitioning" unemployed person has been out of work for nearly six months, likely all of them without any sort of coverage and no guaranty that an eventual new job will come with any.
Something has been swirling around in my head for a few days in regards to younger people and healthcare and I wanted to ask about it. Maybe someone who works in the insurance industry can answer my question.
With all the kids that are now being diagnosed with diabetes, obesity, add, adhd, depression, crohn's disease, etc, how are THEY going to be affected when they go to buy insurance (if reform doesn't pass) as an adult since they have a pre-existing condition? Are parents that AGAINST healthcare even thinking about what MAY happen when their child tries to get affordable coverage as an adult? If no reform is passed and insurance companies continue to raise premiums year after year, aren't they going to be more scr*wed than if we had a different hc system?
I am not trying to start a war, it is an honest question I have not seen addressed.

Unfortunately, I don't expect it to be. It is fundamental to how some people operate. The best you can expect is, another distraction and circumventing the question.

I am afraid you are probably right....
