I didn't look at anything other than the title to the thread.

Wrong, won't happen.

'Did you hear what they're going to force us do?'

'No, what?'

'They're going to cut all of our baby boy's penis off!'

'What! They can't do that.'

'They think they can but we won't let them!'

'No. We'll run away!!'

By their 'logic', we could also possibly reduce the instance cancer if we perform elective mastectomies on the young.

Lastly, I am seriously shocked at the backpedalling of the medical community (also from the OP article):

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/24/he...sion.html?_r=2

And before anyone attacks, yes I did read the article.

This would not be the first time the medical community has recommended something later found to be baseless or exaggerated.
For the record, I feel quite strongly against routine circumcision of male babies at birth. I believe it should be a last resort, if and only if the child is in fact suffering from some of the complications that can occur in intact boys.

What I object to in this thread, is the "government is going to start universally cutting up your sons' penises" hysteria.

They're not. That's a very disingenuous reading of that article.

Passes what?

There are no laws under consideration here. No legislation being voted on. What are you talking about?

The Centers for Disease Control are in the process of drafting a recommendation that boys, and possibly intact adult men, be circumcised, to potentially reduce the risk of contracting HIV.

A recommendation.

The CDC recommends a lot of things, some of which people don't follow. Does everyone get their kids vaccinated? Is "the government" knocking down your door with needles in hand?

Not only that, but they haven't even decided whether to make it a recommendation or not. What a disingenuous OP. For crying out loud, the word "universal" doesn't even appear anywhere in the title or the body of the article itself!
Much adieu over nothing as usual. The hysterical Republican drama only seems to exist in the future where hypothetical scenarios reside; this time Obama is coming after their children's penises! Oh the horror, oh the absurdity...Somebody should really keep tabs on these paranoid claims and then resubmit the list after a couple of years. We could name it "A million crazy things the Right Wing loons predicted that never happened." Be warned though, it would take up some bandwidth.

Agreed.. If those on the right want to maintain any credibility it has to start with how they present their objections.
For example taking assault weapons to town hall meetings. Completely undermines any credibility.
Obama wants to circumcise all male babies. Better have him stating that in those words before you post it.
I am a big believer in our 2nd amendment rights and 1st amendment rights. But unless you want to look like the boy who cried wolf you better be able to back up the claims with hard facts.
I did not vote for Obama. I don't agree with most of what he has done thus far.
He is however my president... I will not slander him, nor will I make false accusations against him. I don't need to respect the man in order to respect the office....

Male Circumcision and Risk for HIV Transmission: Implications for the United States | Factsheets | CDC HIV/AIDS

The above is the link to the CDC's take on the subject at hand. Note the (dot)gov in the URL. Perhaps that is why many are saying "the government..."

May not have a choice once UHC gets passed.
You do realize that if the UHC does get passed, you actually GET a choice. Right?

Nevermind........
