Spin, spin, spin like a top.

No spending spree is ever "noble and good," but almost 1 Trillion of this spending spree saved us from a complete great depression, so for now, you should be thanking your lucky stars. However, it is a huge disappointment to hear them revise their numbers lower, but Consumer spending jumped this month and so did home prices month over month, so the overall economy is improving. I do not understand how any American regardless of their political affiliation could be against a recovery in the economy, that is the single most ignorant and dumb argument you could make as an American. Who the hell in their right mind sits at home and says, "I hope i never have to work, so I will never make money again!"

yay! You were right! The US as we know it is coming to an end! Yay!

I guess it'd be in poor taste to celebrate since we all still live here though.

I saw a bunch of guys with hardhats on standing below sign that stated they were working on a road project funded by the Stimulus.

By golly it's working! This is GREAT news! The recession is over. Obama has saved us from impending disaster! We are home free. Unemployment down in 17 states! Thanks Obama! I hope you can be our President forever and ever because boy you're smart and went to Harvard and it sure is nice to have a leader who can speak well.

Duh, that makes a lot of sense.

Even if all money over $200,000 were to be taxed at 99%, you'd still make more than someone making $199,999 because YOU MAKE MORE THAN THEY DO!!!

How can you not understand the tax system and get by in life?

Tax Rate
10% 0 8,350
15% 8,350 33,950
25% 33,950 82,250
28% 82,250 171,550
33% 171,550 372,950
35% 372,950

See that chart? That means if you make $200,000, you would fall in the 33% bracket, meaning you would be taxed $835 for your first $8,350, $3,840 for your next $25,600, $12,075 for your next $48,300, $25,004 for your next $89,300 and $9,389 for your final $28,450 for a grand total of $51,143. No matter how high you make that final bracket, someone earning more will always earn more.

You had better move that down, Obama has once again lied and moved the goal post down.

It was 250, then 200, then 150, then 100.

Has team ObamaScare got anything right yet?

ObamaDebt is coming to a town near you. Be prepared and start hiding all your money, guns and valuables.

While I am not a supporter of the bailout and any of the forms of economic recovery by this administration (cut government costs and allow capitalism to weed out the weak companies, plus open up trade with cuba and legalize and tax drugs), I do support the war in Afghanistan because it actually serves a purpose. Iraq is a pointless war, it's not a terrorist state run by a criminal gang. Afghanistan is ruled by the Taliban who directly financed Al-Qaeda and provided a safe-haven for terrorists. Why anyone would have a problem retaliating against those who actually attacked us is beyond me. Didn't any of you read the 9/11 Commission Report? Clearly the reason why rational people prefer Iraq to Afghanistan is because Iraq was a war that was started through lies and manipulation of fear, Afghanistan was a necessary war.

I also think we need to pull our 50,000 troops out of GERMANY because it's a massive waste of money. I served in the Navy, but even I believe that one of the most hidden forms of socialism is the Standing Military. Why do we need so many millions of troops? Can't we just have the elite troops training when we're not at war? I know what most Surface ships do, they cruise around, doing drills, never seeing a minute of action until the 4 year term is up. That costs us an average of about $150,000 for those 4 years of Navy duty per person. It really serves no purpose other than to create meaningless jobs at the cost of the taxpayer, which is pretty much a perfect example of Socialism. It's the same in most of the other branches of the military. We probably spend about $20,000,000,000/year on salaries/training for members of the armed forces who never see a second of action.

Haha i do like the sarcasm 01Sanke, but all things considering dropping your political affiliation or your conservative ideologies, would you agree, that it is in everyone's best interest to root for a recovery?

If my neighbor losses their job and cannot make a mortgage payment doesn't that hurt me just as much as it hurts them? If they lose their house my home value will fall due to the vacancy. Aren't we all in this together in terms of the domestic economy? Shouldn't we all drop our political affiliations and hope for the best in terms of the economy?

Sure we can disagree on how to best fix the economy, but shouldn't we still root for the economy to improve?

I'm not an opponent of the Obama Administration (nor am i huge proponent) and i was not a strong supporter initially, but I've grown to respect some of what the administration has done thus far (not everything but some things). The administration has done a rather good job dealing with the financial crisis and helped us avoid a serious mess. I can not agree with him on some policies, but i can respect his action. Now, in principle I disagree with a lot of the spending, but as a thinker i have to ask how much is needed vs how much is excess?

Money spent to sure up Financial Crisis - needed
Money spent to sure up Auto Industry - excessive

PUGLIFE GREAT POST ABOVE MINE I TRIED TO REP YOU BUT COULD NOT!!!
Also good post on the progressive tax system

I am in no way, shape or form rooting for higher unemployment, soaring deficits, or other bad news. Anyone who is truly happy about such things needs to check themselves. You have so much boasting on both sides that I think people on here are just happy when a news piece agrees with their point of view and completely contradicts what others are constantly saying.

This is NOT a one-sided issue either. Both side are guilty of it and its the reason I and many others probably come to this site. Its pretty damn entertaining to see some of you take this stuff so seriously.
