Funny how no one (especially the Right Wing) asked that question when GWB wanted to march our soliders off to Iraq to avenge his father.

Funny that you assume that all of America agrees with you that GWB sent troops to Iraq to avenge his father. Many of us believe troops were sent to Iraq as a result of 9/11/01. I am very concerned about the reckless spending and all the money that has been approved for pet pork projects. I believe that future generations of Americans will be living in a third world country.

I think that any one not concerned about the deficit be they Republican, Democrat, or whatever, is someone not paying attention.

Funny how I blame both repukeicans and Dumbocrats for the problems we face today. The two party system is busted. They work together to further their own goals. Remember Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I somehow wonder if this is somehow politically motivated. all of the time when that clown bush was in office, nobody ever brought this up despite all of his massive spending. now that obama is in office, it's suddenly big news. convenient, isn;t it? Democratic politicians brought up the huge deficit issue ever since the 80s, but they always sank down into defeat b/c americans would much rather hear about tax cuts from the repugs.

It might be "humorous" to add the following into your consideration.

Since a dollar bill (Federal Reserve Note) is not a dollar, but a promise to pay a dollar; and that said promise was repudiated in 1933, the actually sum owed is not quite accurate.
(See Title 12 USC Sec. 411)

With respect to the national debt, only dollars (gold or silver coin) would pay that debt. Dollar bills (FRNs), being debt instruments, cannot pay debt.

It is true that obligations owed to the government can be paid with dollar bills, but the debts owed by the government are not.

Pursuant to the Coinage Act of 1792, one ounce of gold is equivalent to 20 unit dollars. Ergo, the national debt could be listed in ounces of gold bullion.
And the current market price for gold, listed in dollar bills, would make the debt that much more frightening to see.

For example, 11.7 trillion national debt computes to roughly 585 billion ounces. Assuming that one could find that much gold bullion for sale, at $954 in FRNs per troy ounce, comes to the sum of : $558 TRILLION FRNS.

That is the REAL national debt... 1.83 MILLION DOLLAR BILLS percapita.

(One small snag - the worldwide above ground supply of gold bullion is only 5.5 billion ounces - a shortfall of about 580 billion!)

Usury Debt = impossible to pay
Socialist Insecurity = obligation to do the impossible

You don't suppose the concern could stem from the fact that the $9 trillion in debt is equal to all other deficits combined since the founding of the United States?
Yeah it's political

I'm chalking this statement up to the mentality of the teabaggers, "birthers" and "Obama is Hitler" lunacy.

Glad you still believe it though.
