If you work for a state labor department, you should be fired for incompetence. Whether one is receiving unemployment benefits or not is NOT AT ALL a factor that is taken into account in compiling the actual unemployment data. Good thing...because the actual number of people who are unemployed would be on the order of 50% higher than the number of people receiving unemployment benefits.

No, it wasn't. Your 8% number is taken from a projection done in December 2008 based on preliminary data from November 2008 comparing economic projections with and without a stimulus bill of the sort and magnitude then being proposed. That projection showed that with the stimulus, unemployment would peak earlier and at about a 1.2% lower level than without the stimulus.

But because you don't understand what projections are (or very much else about economics), you take the comparative numbers in that projection to have been a PREDICTION, and then try to turn that into a PROMISE.

The reason that you do this is that you have such a glaring lack of any actual argument to make. If it weren't for spin and misrepresentation, you'd have to find a new hobby.

Of course, there are so many less jobs to get rid of now than there was 6-8 months ago, eventually employers are going to run out of people to lay off. So simple math will tell you that the number of jobs lost by month will have to decline at some point.

I do think things have leveled out a little bit now. But I think the second dip is coming sooner or later. I hope its not too big of a dip.

It is dropping because millions are losing their unemployment and going off the data sheets and are NOT being counted.

It has already been shown that ObamsScare is fudging the numbers.

Recently an economist has said the real unemployment is really 16.0% if you add in all the people who have dropped from the count.

Lets get real, this country is a mess and it is not smelling like roses at all under ObamaScare.

2.3 million fewer working is a low number because many hard working baby boomers who have been forced to take early outs will be looking for a part time job and wont be able to find one.

Wait a minute, democrats used Bush's projections against him all the time for 8 years, now all of a sudden it is wrong.

Dems double standards come up once again.

Oh, I don't think so. Luckily, we have a record of what obama said at the time while selling the stimulus - It would create jobs immediately, it would keep UE rate below 8%, it would provide an immediate jolt to the economy. This was in February.

Luckily, we also have the CBO's figures, which contradicted obama and basically proved this week what a liar he was when selling his snakeoil to the American people.

Good direct, strong comeback to the liberal spin. Unfortunately, it resonates only with reasonabale thinking people who really are open to the facts. The rest will just keep their blinders on.

It's from a careerbuilder dot com survey. An organization that derives income from employer/employee hiring transactions. Nope, no conflict of interest there. Move along...

A friend of the family was a regional head of the OFCCP until retiring recently (if saggy is who he said he is, he probably knows him). You have never met a more conflicted person. Lifelong "Republican" (unless he wanted gov't cheese for his drug addicted adopted daughter), actually said in a recent dinner party along with family that he WELCOMED socialized medicine (mostly because the family likes to milk the system whenever possible). He also married his first cousin and produced a retarded child after a few miscarriages and being warned it would happen. His mentor was an African-American who sued his way to the top, and he often argued with my family when he invoked affirmative action at the table.

The Department of Labor sure can pick the cream of the crop.

To add insult to injury, this person tried to re-integrate himself into the workforce upon a very cushy retirement with a near six figure pension. Worked 6 months and was suddenly released. Ran some businesses that failed before becoming a government hack long ago as well. Couldn't hack the private sector it appears.
