My husband has said from the first that if we have a government healthplan that everybody should have the same plan, including congress and the president. The health plan that is being considered is not the same health plan that congress and the president have. Let's not mix apples and oranges here and make people think that congress has the same health plan they have on the table.

In my opinion, congress should not be able to vote on a plan unless it is the same for everybody. Give them the same health plan they are trying to force on this nation and I have a feeling they will change a lot of the rules in a more positive direction. Until that time there should be no government plan. We just need some rules for insurance companies to keep them honest.

Try reading the health plan.
The government options are widely varied.
Every single federal employe at every level gets to choose their health plan depending on their needs and costs.

No one is trying to force anyone/everyone into the same plan.
This has been discussed for months now.
Are you willfully ignorant? Because there's enough information out there to quell your fears.

Sheesh, do your homework, not get your information from reich wing radio.

Contrary to what you say, the more I hear about this so-called health plan the more frightened for our country I feel. For instance, why would this government need to have access to my tax records with the IRS and my checking account.

Anyone that thinks that is something this country needs is a lot more ignorant than anybody I know. Go read the health plan and you will find those two things are in the planning. This health plan is more about taking over our private lives than it is about health. I don't think that is healthy at all.

Again, have you bothered to read it or are you "listening" to right wing radio?
I happen to have read it and I don't see what you're so fearful about.

Care to respond about the government employee health system that you think is only one type and for free.

These are ALL private plans, they have nothing to do with a government option. They are paid for with taxpayer money.

It was utterly absurd then, and it's utterly absurd now. We're not "ready" for government-run health care*? So what must we do to prepare for it, John? How do we "ready" ourselves to improve our access to more competitive options? How do we "ready" ourselves for the shock we'll surely go into when we are no longer denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition? Should we all "work out" in preparation? Take a First Aid class? Put on a pretty dress and do our hair and makeup? What? What will "ready" us, John?

Quit being absurd, ya moron.

*Even more absurd since that's not what's being proposed!!!
Thanks for the morning laugh! Can't rep ya yet but this post was a gem!

I will take a clue from the guy quoted in the OP....I already emailed my rep, Michelle (Mrs.Joe McCarthy from Outer Space) Bachmann last night and called her out for lying about health care reform. I think the quote in the OP should be mailed to ALL our representatives and Senators and Bluedirtdogs...it's perfect!!!

That's what I was thinking too (no disrespect to Chielgirl). Just how does someone get a job with the government and especially if they are at the magical age of 50+ (or younger) when their regular company has permanently right-sized, down-sized (and whatever other politically correct term is appropriate for basically permanently losing your job). So now there is a double whammy. Not only is the person unemployed, but they are also, to a large degree, "unemployable", and thirdly, by this time in life, it is pretty common to have some pre-existing conditions that will negate the possibility of acquiring private insurance. This is really a very serious problem in our country that needs to be addressed.

I definitely agree with your post. What competition DO the insurance companies have? Who is their overseer? Who keeps them honest? Oh, that's right - it's the stockholders. Well, that's par for the course. The fox is guarding the henhouse again; we all know what happens there.

the insurance companies should be forced to compete through deregulation and allowing interstate commerce to work it's market magic.

for now, there's no competition (or not enough to matter)

the system needs LESS government help, not more (and tort reform wouldn't hurt either)
