I have no doubt that more and more companies will be going to Canada because they can no longer afford the escalating cost of PRIVATE Healthcare insurance in this country. Especially in California where they already pretty much pay the taxes of Canada but then have to pay health cost for employees too!
This is WHY it is important to get this healthcare bill PASSED and QUICKLY. Other companies will be looking "north" soon too if we don't!

Before Rick Waggoner got fired, he stated that the US health care system was the reason why GM was cutting fewer jobs in Canada (both in total and per capita) than in the US, and that if the US had a Canadian-style health care system GM would never have gotten into trouble.

Well I am sure that is true. GM caved to the unions and provided gold plated health insurance for them. Way better than any UHC could provide. GM was really a health plan surronded by a car company. See how much of GM the unions got to support their outrageous health plan.
I would expect that it is the healthcare burden as well as unions. Keep in mind, however, that Japanese auto workers make more than American auto workers and they are faring better.
The fact is that the standard of living in the US is going to decline for nearly everyone, due to globalization. Thank goodness we have natural resources. Too bad we don't use them.
