Pro-Tip we dropped the bomb so that Russia wouldn't have a claim on Japan's reconstruction.

Typo : 44 instead of 64 :

That typo doesn't take away from the fact that today is the anniversary of the dropping of the first WMD in history.
The perpetrator being the USA.

Before you go around making stupid, idiotic comments about countries and WMD, try learning the history and the facts. Dropping the bombs actually saved between 500,000 and 1 million American lives and probably more Japanese lives. The invasion of Okinawa produced huge numbers of casualties and the invasion of the home islands would have been a bloodbath.

It took an event such as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to shock the Emperor and his government to finally surrender. The war ended probably a year sooner than expected with no further loss of life on either side.
Nothing but pure speculation. To me it sounds like an attempt to justify what was clearly an immoral act. Then again, the US has become known for murdering innocent civilians.

It was the method of warfare in the day. I might add that it was the axis powers that set the trend.
What speculation?

Says who?

The first lessons in all wars, is that the story of the war is written by the victors.

There is considerable dispute as to the veracity of the "facts" that you posit above.
No one can guesstimate the casualty levels if conventional methods were used to fight the Japanese.

In addition, your "facts" do not take account of the thousands of subequent deaths in Japan as result from radiation poisoning resulting from the two US weapons of mass destruction in 1945.

That is conjecture, at best.

No.
The allies won the war.
Or has that fact been revised in American history, also?

Those nasty old Americans ... died by the hundreds of thousands in two world wars because Europeans were idiots at getting along in peace ... kept a huge force in Europe to keep the Soviets out ... kept our nuclear umbrella over Europe to keep the Soviets from vaporizing your butts ... lowered our tariffs so we could import your steel ... the list goes on ...

A little gratitude for our sacrifices for "the old country" would be welcome...
