The crunchy granola tree-hugging liberal buffoons' idea of a green utopia is not sustainable unless the entire human population is on board. India and China, big contributors to the human race, are solidly NOT on board. They have stated this as fact. As noble as it may be, Cap and Trade legislation does nothing but ask American's to walk the plank. And we can thank none other than the liberal Waxman and Markey for that.

The word "Democrat" is a noun, not an adjective. People who know that, but misuse it anyway, lose all respect from me. People who don't know that have no credibility.

ETA: Okay, now that I've finished the article; the author makes unsupported assertions. He may have valid points. He may not. It's impossible to tell as written.

China and India will both be a Copenhagen. China is taking significant steps to slow the growth of GHG emissions.

Huh? "Government run regulation" makes no sense. The bill is, of course, regulatory. Duh! The government will not be running anything.

Quote:
The hit to GDP is the real threat in this bill. THE WHOLE POINT OF CAP AND TRADE IS TO HIKE THE PRICE OF ELECTRICITY AND GAS SO THAT AMERICANS WILL USE LESS. These higher prices will show up not just in electricity bills or at the gas station but in every manufactured good, from food to cars. Consumers will cut back on spending, which in turn will cut back on production, which results in fewer jobs created or higher unemployment.

that is not the answer to rising unemployment and negative growth GDP, which we have currently. it isn't surprising, however, given the media report now that we are going to have a "jobless recovery". let's see how that works out for america.
You may be correct, but I have faith in the ingenuity of the American entreprenuer. Someone will find a way to produce more efficiently, while at the same time, using less carbon based energy. It could be a win-win.

Listen close now:

Cap and Trade is a Republican idea. It creates a problem, and lets the free market fix it. If Democrats had their way, they would just outlaw certain emissions. As it stands, cap and trade doesn't outlaw emissions, it simply puts a halt to future emissions.

And as I already said, y'alls savior President Regan passed a cap and trade law when he was in office, and that went well.
Unlike The Acid Rain program there are no commercially available technologies to remove carbon dioxide from fossile fuel power plants. The cost to consumers will be un sustainable.

BTW, there is a tremendously cute and funny You Tube Video about a dog who does not like Barack Obama. Check it out.
Phrases using the words "down" and "throat" are getting tiresome. Could you guys please come up with something new?

No,

The idea of cap and trade is to create a problem for companies, in which their best solution is to buy some form of emission reducing technology.

You see, passing the cost onto consumers is only a short term gain. There will be more demand later on, but you can only raise prices so high. So the easier solution is to find a way to reduce your CO2 emissions.

Again, The Regan administration was the first to do this, and it worked for SO2 emissions. Google it, I'm sure you'll be pleasntly surprised by the results.
