The show had Michael Moore, Spitzer, John Waters, and Paul Krugman.

Moore's argument that we shouldnt be a capitalist nation, instead we should be democratic nation. Spitzer and Maher just argued for more regulation. Moore said its been a year now and still nothing has been done. I'm with Moore.

It was pretty obvious that Moore wanted to bash Obama for his corporate administration. But he wanted to wait it out for a while. However, I will not wait it out. This is not what I voted for. Call me cynical but Obama is not answering to the people, he's answering to corporations.

I like how Moore broke down the true essence of capitalism. America's greed is becoming its downfall.

The show had tons of comedy and real discussion. Probably one of the more substantive episodes of Real Time.

Looked like Spitzer was merely trying to improve his image. Meh.

In sum, Obama is not cutting it. In terns of environmental issues, War in Afghanistan, the economy, healthcare, etc. Its the middle of the school year, and Obama is failing these classes right now. Do we give him more time to improve? or do we realize he's just failing?

Obama is not failing. He is doing what he is supposed to do; which is protect the status quo. That's what any president would do, and truth be told Obama is doing a very good job of that. So in what way is he failing?

As for Michael Moore's argument; he is exactly right; Capitalism is evil it is in essence anti-democratic. If you want true Democracy then you want Socialism. Moore wanted to tell the audience that, but unfortunately Americans don't know what Socialism is, to most people it is a dirty word., and therefore any serious discussion about it is off limits. For proof of that fact all one has to do is look at threads about Socialism on the political boards at C-D. Obama is not a Socialist, he's a Conservative. So progressives should not be upset at the way he is governing.

Good review. I have not watched this episode yet but will. I still find it amazing that there are so few shows like his on television, so few willing to have an honest and open discussion of the issues, with some humor thrown in. A dour, competitive argument between opposing views, oft times a one sided argument as Republicans usually as given easy questions and very few, IF ANY, follow up questions to their answers, end with argument that has no clear answers, and you repeatedly see that on any Sunday morning talk show (pick a network) what amounts to manufactured, scripted BS, steered by the corporate media away from disturbing issues.

This country doesnt stand a chance if it is not willing to face the facts, and it is unwilling. The Republican Party has one goal: Stifle any and all dissent and keep the crime syndicate running as normal. It truly is sickening how so many Democrats are also influenced. Without a sometimes tiny, tiny majority of votes from a Democratic majority this country would be one step closer to a Third World nation, which we are hurtling towards anyway.

A new Gilded Age.

Bill Maher is pissing me off lately. I think he is very smart, very funny and I like some of his stuff on relgion, however he is completely an Obama suck up. And he has the audacity to claim to be a Libertarian, which he is NOT. Somewhere along the line, he went from being Libertarian to Communist, and those two things are polar opposites.

And, Maher should NEVER have Mos Def on again. He is an imbecile.

Fantasy hope, dream world change and bad-mouthing Bush wasn't the right combination?

Next time ask an adult before you vote.

Amazing?

If by "amazing" you mean "a no brainer", I agree.

I saw the show too. Moore pointed out that 1% of the people cant control 99% of the capital and at least Obama is trying to do something about it.

A new Gilded Age.

Guess what, that was discussed on the show. Maher talked about how in terms of the social class we are no different other third world countries. He named a couple of European countries that see a faster progression in the workforce.

He also kept bringing up how the top 1 percent makes double the bottom 95 percent.

First let me address the Mos comment. I mean well yeah, that goes without saying, Mos just mumbles.

However, I dont understand what you mean an Obama suck up? Maher has been bashing Obama lately, so I dont understand.

And I didnt know Maher was a Libertarian. *puzzled*
