After nearly two decades of futile searching for a vaccine against the AIDS virus, researchers are
reporting the tantalizing discovery of antibodies that can prevent the virus from multiplying in the body
and producing severe disease.
They do not have a vaccine yet, but they may well have a road map toward the production of one.
I always see glimmers of hope for this disease (articles such as this) but they never seem to pan out. That being said, I hope this does. I have an old friend that has had HIV since 1991 and never went on any medications for the disease. He is healthy and lives in NYC. He doesn't drink, use drugs or smoke either. His diet is so so.
I also casually know a man who is one of the first ever diagnosed with AIDS in San Francisco in the 80's. I believe he is on AIDS drugs, but his lifestyle is also extremely healthy: lots of antioxidants, fresh foods, exercise, rest, optimistic outlook on life and does not abuse drugs. He does smoke a little pot to help calm his stomach but that's it. He is more healthy then the majority of men in his age group by far.
