I'm not a republican or a democrat. I'm an Independent. Being blind, I don't vote based on party lines, or the color of a candidate. I vote based on the person best qualified to do the job. That's how everyone should vote.

I don't think it was "watered down" because there never was anything more than a POTUS giving a pep talk to school kids. The way some lunatic fringe reacted you would have thought that Obama plotted to have a TV on in the kid's bedrooms or via their computers 24/7, Big Brother style. It is insanity, bigotry and stupidity plain and simple.
GADS! I remember being throughly B-O-R-E-D during that address to students in 1988, ( I was in High School). But I do beleive I got a good nap in.
I think that most of the parents who are protesting probably don't remember the protocol for student "assemblies" I think I paid attention to 10% of what was being said; I was more focused on passing notes to my boyfriend, grading my friends hair, playing with my Gameboy without being caught, gossiping, etc. You may get a handful of kids who give it their undivided attention but for the majority this will be like a free period.

Please don’t be mistaken – the video will be shown at public schools either live or recorded. There are just as many parents upset that they school districts decided to “opt-out” because of the emails of a handful of parents rather than leaving it up to the parents to make individual decisions.

Doesn't anyone know? Every time President Obama speaks, he's giving a subliminal message. The righties were saying this all through the presidential campaign about Mr. Obama. That's part of the reason they viewed him as a Muslim terrorist, because whenever al queda and the taliban sent a video message out, there were subliminal messages contained within them.
