Shameful! Rush Limbaugh's racism blatant, even in transcripts!

I really have to wonder about you Limbaugh fans. You insist he's not a racist, many of you insist you're not racists, but what do you make of this? I thought he was more sly than this usually.
Is this all right with you? Is he giving you what you want?
OF COURSE it's all right with them. Their hatred of Obama is profoundly racist, but they have to hide it, so they are tremendously grateful to have someone like Limbaugh, who will speak their racism for them.

I'm not quite sure how the transcribing is done for his show but, I thinking it's just like closed captioning (CC) on television. If you've ever used that before, things like what you're pointing out are not uncommon. Mistakes happen, like y'education could have been an attempt at a correction that wasn't done right......they may have typed "you're education" and tried to fix it to "your education". I think sometimes it's done in steno too...because it's faster and they can keep up with what's being said a lot better. I know that's not a regular keyboard, it's done with phonetics and then software translates it into english. Maybe that's how something like La-ti-nos happens because, I've seen things like that plenty of times reading CC on television.
I'm not sticking up for Rush, I could care less about him.....I think in this case though, you might be reading into things a little bit too much (no pun intended...lol).
Closed captioning is done by steno, by people who have had years and years of training and experience working in courts and in the legal system. The keyboard is a stenograph machine keyboard, and, you're right, it is not at all like a typewriter. There is special software which translates the steno language into English for closed captioning. The software which translates steno into English would not translate the way you are suggesting. The words "your, you're, you are" are written the same way on a steno machine, therefore, when the software translates, you get a "conflict" and SOMEONE has to select which is the correct option for that sentence. People who do steno, closed captioning, do not make those kinds of "mistakes" in transcripts.
Usually, transcripts of radio shows, such as Rush's, are done by people who transcribe from a tape of the show because that is much, much, much CHEAPER than hiring people who can write steno at at least 225 words per minute to do closed captioning. I personally know some people who do that transcribing from tapes of the shows.
So, bottom line, you can't blame the dialect in the transcript on the person transcribing the tape, or on someone using steno for closed captioning. People who do closed captioning do make mistakes, but the mistakes they make are not in terms of dialect. There is really no way to "type" dialect in steno.
As is always true with ANY transcription of TV programs or radio programs, it is approved by whomever hired a transcriptionist to do the transcription, so the responsibility for the final product rests with the person who said the words.

Hey, gimme what I want, baby! Y'ever tried a steno machine, delu? Lots of fun! Total concentration, no wavering with any other thoughts. What the steno strokes into that machine is what the steno hears, nothing more, nothing less. And yes, I have tried it, had training in it, but alas, because of my tinnitus, can't do it for a living.
