It's just the way things are, there is no logical explanation for the phenomenon.

It's due to the effect of Bizarro world on the tiny brains of the sheeple. They hate Martin Sheen ! And anyone who loves peace.

Bill Maher is evil. Elizabeth Hasselbeck is heroic.

When you say celebrities... I think you mean non-journalist or talk-show hosts... and if so, I have yet to hear any celebrity be pro-Repub... in fact, I be willing to bet that 90% of celebs are liberals... of course, they have their reasons... with libs they can eliminate their competition if the law can pilfer their competition finances (nothing like being grandfathered into the old ways, eh)...

It depends on what the nitwits are saying.

Are they attacking the person they disagree with in a personal way, by maligning their character, calling them foul names, wishing they were dead, attacking their daughters, and spouses, or are they voicing disagreement with their ideas and legislative proposals?

Repubs are always the first to say that celebrities are uneducated and empty-headed. Note their support for Miss California.

Miss California was not a celebrity per se, but a citizen attacked by the left for her personal beliefs.

You don't have to an award winning actor or actress to be considered a celebrity.
