The charity group Swedish Committee for Afghanistan expressed outrage today in reporting a US attack on a remote hospital being operated by the group. The troops burst in to the hospital without explanation and conducted a full and rather violent search of the facility.
NATO spokesmen confirmed the raid, but said they had no information about why it was done and refused to speculate. The United Nations cautioned that the raid was a potential violation of the Geneva Conventions, which insist that military personnel avoid operating inside medical facilities.
The charity says that the same hospital was involved in an incident in July, when private contractors escorting a supply convoy forced their way in and used the hospital to hide from insurgents.
I understand the concern but the language is inaccurate and hyperbole.
Then 'enter and search' is an understatement.
'The troops reportedly tied up several employees and the family of some of the patients, ordered the bed-ridden patients out of their rooms and smashed down several doors, including the door to the malnutrition ward.'
'A US helicopter also attacked a small medical clinic in Paktika Province last week on the basis of a report that a wounded insurgent might be inside...The attack sparked a gunbattle which according to provincial officials left at least 12 militants and two policemen killed.'
This just adds to the recent carnage - Obama is doing NOTHING to stop or control the situation.
'Nato air strikes on two oil tankers hijacked by the Taliban in northern Afghanistan led to carnage with a fireball killing 95 people, dozens of them civilians.'
Have you noticed how many of our troops have been killed. This has nothing to do with Obama unless he started the war. All is fair in love and war and you should be supporting our imperfect troops or go over there yourself and see what it is like.
I am the wife of a Viet Nam vet and the sister and sister-in-law of three others who served in Viet Nam. You don't really know what is happening and you certainly cannot tell by news reports. I stopped trusting the news when I learned how much of the news is made up. I know a lot of things that happened over there in the past but I am not going to air our military linen for our enemies to use against them. Support our troops!
If the people in that country do not want us there, maybe they should stop harboring criminals and terrorist. And while we are on the subject of terrorist, has anyone wondered about so many fires happening in the world that seem to have been set. Sounds like possible terrorists to me.
How much do we want Obama to answer for NATO actions? How much do you expect the POTUS to micro-manage the war?
The answer, of course, is to pull the troops out but as long as there is a war going on, things like these are going to happen.

hospitals and schools and mosques all favorite hidouts for insurgents, they are hoping and praying that when they shoot at us we will shoot back, then read the headlines, american forces attack churches and hospitals and schools.
