I have no clue what you're talking about. Why do you think that, and what does it have to do with Obama?

Why do you say that? Who's voting on your rights? No one is voting on your rights.

The OP was saying the his right to vote was being voted on every 20 years or so. Allydriver pointed out that this was false which it is. In response to Allydriver's post, you posted a link to the Voting Rights Act.

Voting Rights Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clearly this was an attempt to show that Allydriver was wrong and that black folk's right to vote is voted on every 20 years or so.

Now you say this:

This is correct. You seem to have changed your position while at the same time insisting that you have always been right. That's pretty slick. Face it, your initial post in this thread was wrong, you realize it but you won't admit it.

There is one Dem (Senator I think) that I read brings it up almost every year, but it gets voted down, or never voted on at all.

But the main reason the Presidential term was limited was because of FDR. Other presidents limited themselves to two terms. They couldn't get rid of FDR (one of the worst presidents in US history).

If the OP is talking about the voting rights act as you seem to suggest, you and the OP are incorrect. This act made certain practices illegal. Those practices were designed to reduce the black vote. This act did not give blacks the right to vote. The right of blacks to vote in 1965 already existed.

The OP needs to be a little more specific or maybe he really does think that the Voting Rights Act is what gave him the right to vote. I don't know. Hopefully he's enlightened now.

I didnt say it was. See post above. The OP hoped to learn.

Oh my God! The OP was asking about the Voting Rights Act but didnt know how to phrase it! I responded to allydriver's charming, welcoming, helpful post AND gave the OP the information he needed in my first post. The OP thanked me for the information in my second post. I hate to say this but How dare you accuse me of weaseling the way you horrid people do. Projection maybe?!

I'll type slower and use a link approved by libs.

According to FairVote.org ONLY section five (5) of the VRA has to be reissued. "Section 5 is important as a deterrent to localities considering making discriminatory changes, and is a vital protection for many minority communities".

The following organizations urged to congress to do so.

"FairVote joined with the ACLU, the LCCR, the LDF, MALDEF, NAPALC, NARF, the NAACP and NCLR in urging Congress to renew the temporary provisions of the Voting Rights Act".

Typing slower didnt make you any brighter. Whether to extend the VRA -- "only" section 5 of the VRA, it's still under the title VRA and it's the most important part -- still has to be decided by vote every X years by Congress, as your quote indicates. That's what the OP was asking about.

You know people dont come here to ask honest questions very often. Why not try to help them when they do come?
