We always hear Illegals can get care at the ER. Maybe someone in the health business can shed some light on how they receive care such as chemotherapy, kidney dialysis and other assorted issues that require more than just an ER visit.

How do you not include this type of care in the proposed changes ? If we cover the care will this encourage anyone needing extensive treatments from a foreign country to the US come for free health care?

An interesting article from Las Vegas:

Illegal Aliens from Mexico tax kidney dialysis treatment in Vegas

Quote:
With the health care scare going on nation wide, it is a real issue in Las Vegas with illegal immigrants from Mexico lining up in the UMC emergency room for free kidney dialysis at tax payer expense and outrage.

We need cheap outpatient clinics where this sort of treatment does not incur the cost of an ER. If we do this I wonder what the ER's will do with all the extra time. Lose money?

I have wondered about govt run outpatient clinics for the poor and others who do not want insurance. It seems like they could open clinics in most major cities cheaper than some of the things they purpose.

The clinics could be staffed by volunteers, medical students and doctors paid like public defenders who work so many hours a week.

...because it's not illegal to buy private healthcare or pay for a Dr's visit out of your own pocket. Also, every person appearing to be of Mexican dissent, possessing a hispanic name or having a spanish accent who doesn't have insurance is not an illegal.

yes, we do need outpatient clinics and yes, too many have turned to the ER for care, but we do not need to give free medical care (long term that is) to illegals.
