crackpot conspiracy theorists

You know this term use to carry a pretty big stigma with it, and it used to be that people laughed at you if you believed in a conspiracy and it is really a term that is rather unkind as well, people can't help what they believe to be the facts here, do I believe each and every one, certainly not! But alot of them do have some very valid points, enough that after researching, it appears some are more fact than fiction. I really dislike anyone who is sick enough in the mind and in the heart to label everyone a crackpot and if it continues on here, I will start reporting it as it is not conducive to real interaction and discussion.

America is NOT ready for the upcoming NUCLEAR BLAST we will be hit with, since we do not close the open borders we have. Any damn Islamo-Facist can waltz right in this country through Mexico and come in undetected. Everyone in the world knows the US-Mexico border is totally open and vulnerable. And Americans are too naive to demand that Washington close the border.

America is NOT ready to hear 30 million illegal aliens area here for the amnesty the Democrats want to pass.

America is NOT ready to protect its own citizens from unfair trade policies and help Americans make more money.

America is NOT ready for Islamic countries shutting down our gas supplies (as they have in the 1970s) because we are TOO DUMB and we are not drilling in Alaska, where we have 30 years of 100% independence of foreign oil!

America is NOT ready for the chaos in our social service system once the 30 million newly-legalized illegal aliens begin filing petitions and bring 216 million people to the United States... people who are pretty much all uneducated, often illeterate in thier native language, and and unskilled.

America is NOT ready for a crashing economy, since we cannot keep spending more than what we make (the Federal Deficit) and cannot keep importing more than what we export (the Trade Deficit).

1) The Federal government is one of limited powers according to the Constitution and neither the Republicans nor the Democrats in Washington care.

2) International trade benefits all involved - even with huge trade deficits.

3) There will always be a bogus alarming scientific discovery to threaten mankind's existence on the planet - global warming is just the threat du jour.

(1) The global economy is here to stay regardless of your feelings about free trade, China, or immigration, so either obtain the right skills or expect to lose your job. Those jobs that "went overseas" (a misnomer, but that's a debate for another thread) are never coming back.

(2) Social Security isn't going to fix itself and my generation (currently in their 20s and 30s) is going to have foot an outrageous bill for the Baby Boomers assuming that the government keeps its promises - which is a huge assumption in the first place.

(3) We aren't as different as we think we are in terms of red states versus blue states. Ideologues on both sides of the aisle control the nation's political agenda, but most of us are really somewhere in between, so reasonable solutions to our nation's problems can be found if we'd just listen with each other.

The national debt, the debt, the debt. What the left and right may be able to agree on is that the government is broke. Entitlement programs will bankrupt this nation unless we pay for them. Interest on the debt will wipe the next generation out and will swamp every other need.

Fantastic thread...

1) The War on Drugs is a colossal failure. 25+ years of filling our jails with drug addicts while forcing us to parole murderers and rapists is beyond stupid. The only way to "win" this war is to legalize and regulate them. Distasteful? Maybe. But what we're doing is obviously not working.

2) China owns us. The minute China decides that it's in its best interests to send us into a depression, it will. It'll be beyond ugly.

3) Our elected "representatives" don't give two hoots about their constituents (those of both parties). Our two-party system, like anything else that attempts to define itself in black-and-white terms, does not serve the interests of the overwhelming majority of this country, even if many of said overwhelming majority do not understand this fact. Reality is not black-and-white. It's time our political system caught up to this fact.

4) The Democrats are not an opposition party.

5) Also related to point number 3, America is not some beacon of enlightenment and democracy that stands superior to the rest of the world. No government that is so unresponsive to the needs of its citizenry can be held as an example of such lofty ideals. Neither can a county that starts wars of aggression against countries to steal their resources, and neither can a country that practices torture. We are a bloated corpse of what used to be that ideal, and have been for quite some time.

I actually agreed with some of your sentiments, just not this one. Just how do you figure America is unresponsive to the needs of its citizenry? We have the most highly developed social service networks in the world, in history. If anything, our government is TOO responsive to many issues of its citizenry that should be left up to individuals to deal with/solve/face. Our welfare system, for example, is in monumental trouble because of giving too much money away to unemployed people who have never honestly sought to become employed.

Where did we start a war of agression for the sole purpose of stealing resources? BS. And practice torture...do you actually think that happens on a regular basis, condoned by those in power? Most "cases" of torture from Americans are isolated cases perpetrated by some whackos in the military, and are duly punished. Also, probably some of the people we interrogate deserve a little pain. I'm not talking dark ages here, but perhaps a little electro-shocking might not be so bad to employ on, say, members of Al Qaeda.

Hear, Hear!

I'm sure many of the chattering classes pooh-poohed Hitler and the Nazis before they attained total domination.
