Who said it was Obama that released him ? There was not one mention of any party or President until your post.

If the government had the evidence that proved him to be a terrorist, they should have prosecuted him, convicted, him, and then executed him. Did we make a mistake? Yes. We failed to prosecute when we had the opportunity and because of that failure we released him. The failure is not that we released him - the failure is that we failed to prosecute him.

No they should be classified as Prisoners of War and placed in POW Camps.
As such they can be held until the "War on Terror" is over without a hearing.
All of these hearings and trials are the result of involving Lawyers in War

The government refused to call them Prisoners of War and instead referred to them as enemy non-combatants. I don't mind holding them as POWs, provided that we handle them as such.

I don't believe you can do that with terrorists. It's not a war with a country per say.
Different rules apply. It's more like a war with a radical group than a country.

That was the problem. No clear rules were established. If there were, what to do with the detainees/prisoners would be known and understood and this whole thread would not be necessary. I've read so many opinions by the 'experts' reviewing this issue and they can't get it straight.

See what happens when you legally arrest people for committing crimes. You can legally hold them accountable. By skating the entire judicial system, the Bush administration did not allow that to happen. You can't hold people hostage without trial forever, at least not in the America I know.
