Well, since you had seats and bleachers at the inauguration, the density would be different.
you are correct.
therefore the park service diagram you're referencing is not relevant to the size of the crowd at the protest yesterday, because it is based on the crowd density at obama's inauguration.
and i didn't say they weren't on the mall. but they didn't come close to FILLING the mall.
To end this bizarre thread let's give a pat on the head to one who is never right, say "Good Girl, yes, there were lots of people... feel better now? Can you sleep tonight?".....and move on...
Because the exact number doesn't really mean anything at all....let her have her little fantasies....
That was my perception based on pictures. I did not mean that there was not room to move. Geesh. Look at the pictures. Americans are protesting Obama and Congress in droves. If you cannot see that, that is not my problem.
there was virtually no one after the first half of the first block of the mall.
see all the green space back there?
they filled about 1/8 of the mall.
and yes, i am aware that it was a big protest, but people are jumping all over themselves trying to make it significantly bigger than it was. if that was not your intent, i apologize, but people have been posting pictures of other events and the article from the daily mail all day trying to make people think this thing was bigger than it was.

since they put out the schematic before the event, it would be SOP. 2.5 SF per person, enough for a chair and elbow room, much different than jammed packed, elbow to elbow, as those pics show.
That Inauguration schematic is based on 2.5 sqft per person - that is jammed in tight - about 1.5'x1.5' for each person. The article says that 5 sqft per person is an average crowd density. The photos show a looser crowd. So divide the 240,000 by at least half and remove the area left of the reflecting pool - that brings it in under 100,000.

And you are doing just the opposite. It is clear, from the time-elapsed video, the results of the march, the pics, schematic, the video from CSPan, crystal clear, a couple hundred thousand.

you're right. this is pointless.
i'll say for probably the 25th time, good job, you exercised your right to free assembly, it was peaceful, a ton of people came. plus: good night.

Yes, but they didn't weigh everyone...some take up more room than others and do backpacks count as 1/2 a person?
What photos are you looking at? The ones I see, that I posted, are jammed packed, elbow to elbow, much less than 5 sf, or maybe even less than 2.5.
