When Rep. Joe Wilson embarrassed his home state by calling President Obama a liar on national television, pundits in South Carolina seemed less surprised that one of their leaders would say such a thing than that Wilson was the one who said it. A columnist for South Carolina's leading newspaper, the State, wrote that when she heard the heckler identified as a South Carolina Republican, "He wasn't on my top three list of suspects (http://www.thestate.com/editorial-columns/story/937597.html - broken link)." For a state to distinguish itself as one of the crank capitals of American politics, it helps to have a deep bench.

Joe Wilson does other politically challenged states a favor. - By Bruce Reed - Slate Magazine

I heard or read last week someone saying they had interviewed some people who had gone to law school with Wilson. The nicest thing that anyone could say was that he was an unhinged idiot.

Anyway pols in TX are dancing in the streets. Their motto, like that of their public school system is; "hey, we're not so bad, look at MS, AL and SC".

Wilson got what he wanted. Now he's the paladin of the far right, up there with Beck, Palin and Limbaugh. He now has fame, money and achieved messiah status for his followers. I think the guy is smart.

No, not yet. Obama still holds that position for HIS followers.

He was an Immigration Lawyer whose main support for his run was the Indian Hotel Managers Association. He has backed Health Care for illegals in the past but like any good lawyer he will represent whoever is paying him the most

South Carolina is a beautiful state though!

I was thinking why is there so many racist in the Republican party, I know Democrats have their share also. But Repubs by far has the majority.

Most of these (Racist) people are not rich.

So why do they stick with this party like grits?

The Republican Party has done everything it could to stop every social idea.

They voted No to Social Security, Minimum Wage, Civil Rights ,Voting Rights, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

So who do they stand for?

You may want to check your history on some of the issues you mentioned.

But what you can say when you see something like the picture below?
Some of these people are confused at best, and misled at worst.
