What do the alleged overindulged, pampered, entitlement generation get that their "Real America®" elders don't get?
Here is a group of folks who you would generally think would be repulsed by he idea of having to buy something that they think they don't need, yet understand that their contribution to the risk pool will reduce rates for everyone. Why is it that they are willing to pay up to be a part of a great nation and some of their elders act like, paying dues to be a member of the "greatest" nation is a necessary privilege?
Because college professors and teachers are largely liberal, they definitely have an influence on students. I found it very disturbing when I was in college.

Because it's not real to them yet. They're still living on mommy and daddy's dime, living in a liberal bubble, being fed the party line by their professors, and living for the now, not tomorrow.
They love the "idea" of whatever Obama tells them, but they haven't lived enough to realize what that gets them in the end.
Simply because kids today take freedom for granted ! They have not the intelligence to understand what freedom really is and what it took to give them what they take for granted...

Because the youth of this country have been thoroughly indoctrinated by the system. They cheer Obama because they can't see the whole picture. They are students, still high on the american dream and most have not yet gone out and experienced the real world. Also, your average student doesn't have a clue what socialism is, nor why it never turns out to be a good thing. Students today don't learn nearly as much about history as the rest of us did. The system has slowly dumbed down curriculum while phasing out certain courses so that the next generation will be less informed and more willing to go along with whoever tells them they have their best interest at heart. They are lazy, prefering to just take the presidents word for it and not worry about the consequences. They are naive, still really just babes in the woods, and haven't been awakened to the harsh reality of what America is today. And when they leave college, and find themselves unable to find a job in their field, atleast they can find solace in the fact that should they catch a cold, they have health insurance. Just hope they can pay for it.
See, these kids today have literally been worked on since the day they left our warm homes and entered public schools. They have government approved blinders on, making them basically just cheerleaders for whichever puppet happens to be in office. And right now, that man is Barack Obama. Those of us who are a bit older had the advantage of a more rounded education, both in public school and college, and the much older generation has dealt with these threats we see today before and they know what they are looking at and are not afraid to call it what it is. Our young, on the other hand, have only us to educate them about matters such as these. And frankly, today's generation of parents are for the most part unable to even properly discipline their children, let alone educate them. And so we are left with a broken generation, unable to really fend for themselves in most any fashion, totally dependent on a government entity to tell them what to do, think, and how to live. And that is why those 15,000 students were cheering. They really just don't know any better.

Because they think its going to be free to them. Wait until they get stuck with a $120 / month insurance bill. That is the average premium for a young, healthy kid these days.
"Because college professors and teachers are largely liberal"
"They're still living on mommy and daddy's dime, living in a liberal bubble"
"Because the youth of this country have been thoroughly indoctrinated by the system."
Does this apply to kids who serve in the military as well?
Anyway, if a liberal education leads to the idea of shared sacrifice as the price for living in a free country, I am damned glad that I am a liberal and the product of liberal indoctrination.
So how do we get the rest of these teabaggers to understand that living in this country isn't a free ride?

Not at all, in point of fact that was made abundantly clear to them by the President's speech. Additionally, it was the interviews with the students after that rally which made me put up this thread because they were very clear about the cost they would pay and the reasons that they would need to pay them.
I can't believe so many people are missing the point. Young people make up a large percentage of the uninsured. Once they graduate from college, and they are often removed from their parent's health insurance. In this bad economy especially, young people are not finding jobs that provide health insurance. This is the case with many of my friends. Of course young people will care, this is an issue that directly affects them. Plus, young people and college students aren't all brainless idiots. Though I'm not surprised to see those myths perpetuated in this thread.
