I challenge you to tell everyone in this forum how a person can be faulted for when they were born. What did you expect people of the generation to do, work until they're 95 so you can be "covered?"
And I'll say the same thing to you that I did earlier: wait until you get older, and some new bunch of kids comes along and starts criticizing your generation. I'll bet you'll have a whole wheelbarrow full of justifications ready to start slinging at them.

Fred314 i don't accept your excuse, but i accept your challenge.
My parents prepared me and my grandparents are pre baby boomers and one set prepared themselves for retirement and the other set did not. However, unlike the individuals i have spoken to and seen on tv over the last three-six months, they are not ungrateful jerks. It does not dismiss their inability to prepare themselves for retirement, but i have realized most older Americans are in their position and not in the position of my prepared set of grandparents or my baby boomer parents for that matter.
Now those in the 95% category are asking for no socialism and no help, that is fine with me. If you can do it on your own lets get rid of these programs and my parents can take care of the side that did not prepare themselves. Hopefully everyone is as lucky, but judging by the fact that only 5% of the country is actually well off and the other 95% is living pay check to pay check, i have to believe a lot of people will suffer, but so be it! Pick your poison! I was a libertarian with compassion, but my patience has been pushed and I'm ready for true revolution and it starts with Social Security and then on to Medicare!

Its also clearly an example of a large ego. This forum plasters the user name of each threads author in the main thread listing, and also plasters the author's name it at the top of all of our posts, and yet some people feel the need to sign each post with their user name, and in this case, sign the thread title too. WillysB i've heard this response often from individuals in your generation. I'm curious as to what exact amount of money and what compounded interest rate you think would be a fair and equitable return for the tax dollars paid into the system?

I'm very curious to hear this response. I have paid into the system at a much higher tax rate with a significantly less valuable dollar. In 10 years if i did the math i'd say it's less that 15k with interest that i would be owed.
Dorock I have some sad news for you..... You don't control enough votes to get your way. We baby boomers vote so the elected officials will listen to us. Your only really viable option seems to be emigration. Surely there is some Eastern Block or South American country that practices the style of economics you prefer. Be sure to go by the American Embassy when you get there and formally renounce your citizenship, because if you don't we can still collect taxes. Bon Voyage!
I don't agree with everything dorock has said.....but he has a point.
After all, we are trillions in debt and just who do you think will be saddled with paying it off? The baby boomers? You people will be dead and past caring when the debt comes due. Yet your generation via Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Obama (and prior to that, W and his merry band of dumb fks) are running up the tab like there is no tomorrow. Well, for you guys there isn't --- but I'd much prefere my (and more importantly my childrens) standard of living not go down to pay your debts.
Unless you paid 1,000 bucks a month you are not only getting your money back but you are being subsidized by the rest of us.
Er, aren't you forgetting about investment and interest on all that money for so many years? That's a lot of interest that should have accrued in 40-50 years.
