On the international scene, he certainly has a lot more respect than Bush had. There are certain things I liked about Bush but the way he managed to pee away the unprecedented sympathy the US had after 9/11 in a couple of months still baffles me.

My comment was never about defense. It was about international relationships with traditional allies and new ones. And I'm sure the way the US bullied its way into Iraq did more to recruit terrorists than they themselves could ever hope to.
I really don't know why it's so hard to say something positive about someone, even if he isn't your cup of tea. Are you that clouded with hatred?
To wit, I can say something positive about Bush - kudos to him for giving minorities visible positions in his cabinet.
