Regarding that Carter quote: Obama is 1/2 White, his black father abandoned him Moderator cut: racist. Obama was raised by and taught the values of his White grandparents. His White family RAISED him, the black side DID NOTHING.
How is this repaid? Obama chooses Chicago to set up shop 25 years ago, because it is a laboratory of racism and the "racial-spoils" political system at work. I think it's shameful that Obama, being 1/2 White, raised by his White family would openly decide to become a pro-Black racialist.

You have no idea if I called him Dubya or not. (I didn't) At first, I didn't even get the name. I don't think it was meant to be any more derogatory than "Bubba" for Clinton, "Ronnie Ray-guns" for Reagan, or even "Barry" for Obama. Watch who you call a hypocrite, bub.
Pleading ignorance from a liberal elitist? Not a hypocrite? The other names you post were not meant to be derogatory?
Apparantly you can't decide what you are, but definitely a hypocrite.
Yeah ok...whatever makes sense in your head buddy.
Or, in your liberal world, needs to be disputed.

Of course I knew that! I just asked to see if you knew that! Now let me scroll through the thread to see where I said that...
And another assumption (patently false) of your own superiority, displayed by attempting to disparage any comment showing your position to be untenable.

So you ignored the fact that I didn't make the comment you claimed I did by posting a bunch of gibberish? And then you wonder why people call you names.

maybe they were meant to be derogatory (although besides ronnie ray-gun, i've heard them used in both positive and negative light), but they weren't based on race/ethnicity.
the parallel to calling bush "dubya" is calling obama "barry". no racial connotation there.
but calling obama "the hussein obama" or repeatedly pointing out that his middle name is hussein is implying that there's something inherently wrong with his middle name being one of the most common arabic first names.

Didn't "Barry" used to go by Barry? If so, "barry" isn't really the same as "dubya" because I'm pretty sure George Bush never went by "dubya".
In this case, "dubya" would be more like "hussein" - one's a middle initial, one's a middle name.
ok, i looked into it a bit, and it seems that molly ivins may have coined it when he was governor of texas. so he didn't choose it, but there's no "hick" connotation - it's simply based on how "w" is pronounced with a texas accent. molly ivins is texan herself. it might be an overly familiar way to refer to the president, as is "barry", but there's no implication that there's something wrong with having the middle initial "w" in itself. obviously pointing out bush's middle initial matters because it distinguishes him from his father, and he is almost always referred to as george w bush while his dad retroactively became george hw bush. according to what i found online, even bush jr's friends refer to him as "george w".
meanwhile, there is a very strong implication from those who pointedly use his middle name that there is something wrong with having the middle name "hussein", and there is no need to use barack obama's middle name or initial to distinguish him from anyone.
