I would say we never intended to leave in the first place.

We have built a permanent base there north of Baghdad. About 20,000 American GIs will be stationed there. We statrted building right as soon as Sadamm was toppled.

Foreign policy never really changes from one administration to the next. Republicans tend to spend more on weapons but that's about the only difference. Democrats act like they don't care about Isreal. But they do.

Nothing has changed in Iraq or Afghanistan and we are still sabre rattling in Iran. I expect us to be in there sometime in the next few years. Hope not. But we probably will be.

Didn't some of the big oil companies get nice contracts over there? Like BP and Exxon. Not sure about that but I think they did.

Oil, strategic troop placement, resource aquisition, strategic destabilization of the region.

And oh yeah, we are also bring the Iraqi people freedom HAHAHA The funny thing is that 5 years ago most Americans were dumb enough to actually believe the freedom BS. Now I think we all see that is was absolutely ridicuous.

It was announced months ago that all combat troops will be out of Iraq by next August which is pretty close to the timetable he laid out during the campaign.

Vietnam collapsed two years after we left. If we leave now and it collapses two years from now he will be a one term president. If he waits until the end of his term it won't happen until his second term.
