The Story of Stuff is more about OVERconsumption. We'll always have to consume something just by virtue of being alive: food and water.
I have no problem with teaching kids you don't need multipe ipods, the most expensive car, the biggest house, hundreds of shoes, etc to be happy.
Parents can always counter the message after the movie and take their kids on a shopping spree.
Did you watch it? It's more than that. It goes on to tell you that it's the governments "job" to "take care" of you, and that corporations partnering up with the government is normal. How the pillows you sleep on are poison because of private industry. It's bad...period

That's why I have a problem with the left-wing agenda. There is nothing inherently wrong with an iPod, big house, or expensive car. This is the exact reason... You are presumptuous and conceded to believe your way is the right way. You obviously believe it is okay to brainwash my child. Overconsumption is a concept of your own leftist agenda. And what is scary, you do not see the wrong in pushing your leftist agenda - overconsumption - onto my child in public school.

to be happy
Nothing to do with being happy. The vid demonizes the iPod, big house, expensive car and consumption. This is your religion, not mine. Do not poison my child's mind with this drivel.

Teachers tell kids to be doctors and lawyers so that they can make high salaries to buy more "stuff". How is that not a perversion as well?
FAIL. Telling kids to be doctors or a lawyer is more of a metaphor for a child to strive for excellence and success. I never had a teacher/professor encourage me so I can buy more stuff.
I have made tiny little gas masks for all my dust mites. Took awhile, but they are safe. No way am I allowing toxins from a corporation to deny them the pleasure of populating my mattress.
At ~1:55 min, in less than two minutes, that's how long it takes for her to spout her first lie, her first use of propoganda and were the indoctrination begins:
"50% of our taxes goes to the military". Then they juxtapose a tank over an icon of our gov't, then a gas can instantiates and fills the tank up with gas. A very subtle message using iconography. For shame.
Another great quote they repeat and which I want you to teach my children, "We are using too much stuff."
OMG - this is it, I cannot take it any more, puke. ~6min mark she claims breastfeeding poisons infants. I am no way joking about this. "I thought they were looking out for us (infering that breastfeeding is poisoning infants)." LIE.
I can't watch anymore; I'll blow a gasket.
That is the danger of indoctrination. I cannot believe any teacher would be able to keep their job after showing this. This is egregious and outrageous, I cannot believe any school board would permit this.
Anti-consumption, anti-capitalistic leftist agenda in public schools... and that is what it is. Get them young. This is nothing more than a full fledged assault on capitalism and the American way of life. The same system which has brought prosperity and freed millions around the world; cured disease and done much to eradicate hunger is made the villain. No socialist system has anything like the record of success in helping humanity that American capitalism has produced.
One down, about 175,000 instances to go to catch up with teachers "indoctrinating" our children into religions they don't belong to with Pro-God speech.... Or do we only care about this issue when our teachers say, or show or teach something that we DON'T agree with??

Pro-God and religion are two different things. It is your right to be god-less but not your right to tell everyone else they must remain silent on God.
The Pledge of Allegiance, "One nation, under God...", in courts, you place your right hand on a bible, on the dollar bill "In God We Trust", and all the Founding Fathers were Pro-God, had faith and spoke of God frequently. I have no problem with God being used in a public forum or in a gov't environment.
However, I do have a problem with religion being taught in a public school. I do not believe public schools should offer counter-opinions on evolution or how old the Earth is. I'm a fan of established science. When God becomes a method to gain converts (in a gov't capacity) - it upsets me, enrages me. I do not think non-profits should get money to proselytize.

I am just speechless. I don't know how to respond to this "feces".
Consumerism is one thing you'd expect the right wing Christians to be in agreement with the left wing anti-consumerists on. But then again, you'd expect a lot from them and be disappointed.

Doctors and lawyers? The kids should strive to outdo Bernie Madoff! Now, that's a guy who could buy anything. Maybe some apprentices can figure out a way to avoid the mistakes he made.

So no, I do not like any indoctrination.
Okay, that's fair... Understand, however, that when we assume that our children are impressionable and that telling them "capitalism is evil" is going to make them hate our financial system, that it is hardly different from that same impressionable child hearing about "One nation UNDER GOD"....
Either these kids can think for themselves or they can't. Which is it?
