and interesting that sanrene supports using the military against our own people, snatching them into a car with no formal arrest. how anti-american can you get? that's the kind of thing that happens in totalitarian dictatorships.
I stand corrected. I also agree with the rest of your post.

Liberals are for government involvement in every aspect of our lives. Strongarming a protest with the military, something they are prohibited from doing under the Constitution, is unfortunately very liberal, since you are advocating a circumvention of our natural rights. You are thinking too black and white on this issue. You are unfortunately a liberal when it comes to this particular issue. Not a pinko commie liberal, but more like an LBJ liberal. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. You may very well be a conservative when it comes to certain fiscal policies, but in terms of government involvement in people's lives, definitely more on the neo-liberal side.

The punk anarchists come from around the world for this event.
It doesn't matter. What makes our country unique and special from others are their rights not to be abused by the military within our own soil. They are for fighting wars, not as a glorified police force.

True. Too bad no one in that video is in the military. Anyone who has been in would notice the blatant uniform discrepencies and lack of military equipment.

Another point against the video: I don't recall the Gov asking for military assistance or calling out the Nat. Guard. This has to happen before any military go in to action in a state. Otherwise it is considered and act of war against/by the state. Did I miss something? Possible.

i'm pretty sure the national guard was called in before anything started.

edit: yep. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,554600,00.html

the protests have certainly not been on a scale that merits military intervention though.

and by the way, i'm of the opinion that the city, the police and the media, by scaring the pants off of residents and cracking down before anything bad happened, created a self-fulfilling prophecy. i'm not absolving the protesters who were destructive of responsibility, but this could have been handled in ways that would have been better for everyone.

Yes, according to WPXI 2,000 Nat. Guard soldiers to augment 4,000 police.

Good to see other smart people.

No way this was the US military.

So the protesters set up the whole thing to "create" some news?

it's hard to say what happened.

if it gets picked up by the media its veracity should be determined pretty quickly.
