Ever heard of Shutzhund training for dogs? Have two Rottweilers that have many hours of it. You make the faulty assumption that you would ever need to protect yourself against more than one person at a time. People do not work well in concert with each other. Your gun makes you no safer against multiple attackers.

if 10 people are running at you meaning to do you harm, and you start shooting at them with deadly force with a rifle, they are more likely to break and run than if you start doing the karate chop on them.
