Those industries will need to compete with the government instead of outsourcing, but is that so wrong? The standard of living will decrease in America, and it has to if we are to compete in the world marketplace today. The days of being able to exploit cheap labor in other countries but still maintain high wages here, are over. We have to realize that the educational and technical levels of those countries have caught up to and in some instances, surpassed us, so why do we expect to be able to live in a higher realm of existence from the rest of the world?

3. It would allow parents to kick out their deadbeat kids with a clear conscience, knowing that they won't starve if they are willing to work.

4. It would provide the workforce with millions of low-paid workers to compete with foreign low-wage competitors (and the government would provide low cost housing)

5. It would force private companies to compete with government companies.

6. I believe in free higher education for all citizens who can pass the courses - this is needed to compete in the world economy, and strengthen our country.

The 'safety net' for those who can't even hold a government job would be in the form of charities and basic government shelters.
I am so happy that some body feels the same way I do~

Free housing and meals can be provided to the low wage workforce, again by government workers. If private industry cannot provide the jobs, the government should, by using the money it used to give away. Money for doing nothing should become an antiquated idea.
So those hiring would have to give priority to those receiving government assistance, instead of someone more qualified, who needs the job just as badly--so that they can AVOID going on government assistance?

And are we going to pay them enough to cover both their rent and the cost of childcare, since it is rare for a single person with no kids to be on welfare? Or a married couple with kids to be on it?
