Somebody I know (a republican) suggested the whole thing was started by liberals to make conservatives look like paranoid morons. Any truth to this?
I guess the old saying "never ascribe to malice what can equally be ascribed to idiocy" might apply here - I mean there ARE a lot of really stupid people on both sides of the political spectrum. Far left types had the 9/11 Truth movement.

Washington DC, where Big Government is exploding, is on the East Coast, but liberals instead went to Washington State, on the West Coast, to protest Glenn Beck's visit.
So, no, I do not think liberals are savvy enough to concoct that sort of conspiracy.
