how many of you have this song going through your head as you read this thread?

YouTube - Rio (Official Video) Duran Duran

Looks like the OOM show didn't work out. I thought that Madrid would have gotten the games. Rio has a lot of work to do ... like hiring non-corrupt police, that would be a good start.

How do you think hussein obama will ever man up and take responsibliity for his decisions when he and his sheep continue hiding behind a Bush?

hussein obama LOSES AGAIN!

Good lord. You people just spend your days salivating for Obama to trip up and then spout off your talking points issued by Fox News.

I mean, what is wrong with you people? You were fine with Bush taking vacation after vacation after vacation. You voted for him twice!

Yet, Obama tries to secure the Olympics for less than 24 hours and suddenly he's not running the country? Make up your minds. Either he's doing too much and is "destroying our country" (absurd for anyone who knows American political history) or he's not doing enough.

You can't have it both ways. I'll wait until this evening to check back so Hannity can tell you how to respond.

Obama's apologizing for the USA has helped as well...maybe that was why he thought he needed to go there, to say how great Chicago is...probably the only place he would appologize for, but perhaps the only place he needs to appologize for with all it's fraud and him being a Senator coming from there...how ironic.

The real reason Chicago lost the Olympics was because Glenn Beck called the IOC and told them to pick Rio.

He didnt have to try. Someone else was already trying that wasnt costing the entire country money. You do know we are deeply in debt right?

A person has to have a mind first, before that person can make up his mind.

I gotta laugh, though. With all the whining when this country loses out on having another Olympics held here, imagine what the whine level would have been if our bid had succeeded! Yikes!

-Did democrats go after Bush for those vacations?
-Was the unemployment rate 9.8%
-What was the debt then
-Obama was suppose to be change not more of the same
-How much money does our federal gov get to waste before you are upset about wasted money?
-Was there nothing more important that Obama could have been doing?
-Could the Mayor not have gone?

I mean really when does this country come before a political party

1. The point isn't what Democrats did - that's all just childish politics. The point is that critics voted for Bush (who took a lot of vacations) and now attack Obama for trying to secure the Olympics as a "pleasure trip". It's hypocritical.

2. Everyone knew the economy was headed toward collapse during Bush's time. If you're trying to blame Obama for the unemployment, you should study economics and get back to us.

3. Obama has brought our country into the 21st century with his new policies and direction. It's been great to see, but some can't appreciate it because, so far as I can tell, anything Demcratic is "bad" by the group of extreme partisans who hang out here 24/7.

4. Spending money in a crisis is pretty universally accepted practice and has returned positive results (as well as negative in some situations). Driving a nation with a surplus into debt, as Bush did, not so much. Again, an economics class would do you well.

5. Is spending less than a day to try and bring thousands of jobs and tourists to the struggling industrial heartland of our country a waste of time? Take your partisan blinders off. Seriously. The Upper Midwest could have really benefited from this rather than the hateful, selfish attacks everytime Obama tries to do anything but cut taxes and watch from the sideline because, supposedly, government is always "bad" (or so the propaganda tells us).

6. The mayor did go, but he brings no weight to the decision. Heads of State have influenced the IOC in the past. There was a precedent.
