I don't think you can be indoctrinated into homosexuality. I don't think homosexuals are "made" in any way, some people are simply born into this range of sexuality.
Word play. It has nothing to do with turning kids gay. LOL. Our saturday morning cartoons accomplishes that easy enough. It has everything to do with pontificating from the classroom.
That's what education does. It prepares kids to be good citizens. Part of being a good citizen is not being a wingnut.
The very name of the level of education should tell you that isn't the purpose. Elementary means the basics. If we were preparing elementary students to be "good citizens" would would supply them with a dumbed down version of a 1040EZ.
The elementary education system is established to provide basic understanding of core subjects and to teach kids HOW to learn. Our education system through college is a building process. Basics are taught first, and as they progress more information is provided to begin to train people to enter society.
Teaching something like homosexuality, which should be reserved until at least highschool, is nothing short of indoctirnation.
The volume provides scholarly insights, pedagogical strategies, and curricular resources for use in public elementary schools. *****ing Elementary Education will be of particular interest to teacher educators who integrate issues of multiculturalism and sexuality into the curriculum of ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
The same "Safe School Czar" who ignored statutory rape. The same Kevin Jennings who started Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which on the front is not a bad thing - but.
There's obviously an agenda, and obviously they're using schools to advance that agenda. Keving Jennings wrote the Forward to the manual on how to do so. That bothers me. Not homosexuality or gays. But pushing agenda in elementary schools.
We are talking about vulnerable children, and upon examination you see that the agenda is put together by homosexual activists to normalize homosexuality in the minds of as many kids as possible – and if possible without any parental knowledge or consent.
Indoctrination. Does it bother you?
Did you read the Foreword? It starts at page ix at that Google Books source.

I completely disagree.
Give the kids some cred. here, the don't need a dumbed down version of the 1040EZ...it's already dumbed down for the average American adult...(it's already AT elementary school levels).
And there's a hell of a lot of education on the elementary level of SOCIAL skills, and socialization in general, of which this education in tolerance and understanding for homosexuality should be a part.
It's not indoctrination, its life.

I based my original post after actually reading the forward written by Mr Jennings. What I got was that they aren't advocating teaching homosexuality at all, they are teaching tolerance. As Mr Jennings points out, when elementary school children remark "That's so gay", a common remark I've often heard myself, and when questioned as to the meaning, simply know that gay is bad or negative, then perhaps it is necessary to make children aware that words have power and that tolerance is a good thing.

Children in elementary school have no understanding of the concepts of attraction or sexuality. You want to start teaching them about "feelings" for people of the same sex before they even understand what feelings related to sexuality are?
That makes absolutely no sense.
Teaching kids to share - elementary school
Teaching kids to be quiet - elementary school
Teaching kids respect - elementary school
Teaching kids no violence - elementary school
Teaching kids about drugs - middle school
Teaching kids about strangers - middle school
Teaching kids about sex - High school
Teaching kids about alcohol - High school
Teaching kids about sexuality - High school
Can you honestly say, that teaching an 8 year old hitting Tommy is wrong right next to teaching that its ok to have sexual feelings for Tommy is Ok?

Would that also include getting "inspiration" from a hard-core NAMBLA advocate?

One of the people that’s always inspired me is Harry Hay, who started the first ongoing gay rights groups in America.
It appears Jennings was also a big, big fan and got great inspiration from Harry Hay. Who is Harry Hay, you ask?
IS there any doubt this man Jennings is a radical gay activist? Is this the kind of person we want making education policy?
