If the troops YOU are incharge of are getting slaughtered daily because of the presidents incompetence, you would do the same. By doing this, Mcarthur is gaining more trust from the military than Obama. If Obama were to get rid of him, I believe the military would be even more disappointed in Obama. I don't think any commander in chief should have his own military not even like/trust him.

Barack Obama is only furious that he would be put in a position to have to make a difficult decision about a troop surge - you know, the same sort of (hugely successful) surge he voted against for Iraq. He's learning that he can't speak out of both sides of his mouth and not get called out for it. Obama is realizing that George W. Bush makes the perect war-time mentor and that his rookie campaign rhetoric was about as ignorant as it gets.

I can't say I would disagree with that. I would also say that one of the key elements of the military is the chain of command. I don't blame the General for being angry, and I don't know the behind the scenes information on what has happened.

It looks like the Right has a new darling, since everything that the president does, regardless of what it is, is bad. Very patriotic.

The chain of command is General > Defense Secretary > President.
Politicians set policy. Generals advise politicians and implement policy.

Did not say he was Truman like it or not and i do not like Obama his policies or he ability to run the war. he is the president and he has every right to hire and fire generals.
Lincoln fired them like candy, Truman fired the greatest general ever much for the same reason here.
I do not like OBama but we must believe in a civilian head to our Military it is his right .

It's been over a month since the General made his request. It's not about what the President does, it's about what he hasn't done.
