Considering most experts agree that we just avoided a major depression thanks in part to new policies, I'd say Obama's doing pretty darn well.

Or, did you actually buy the right wing hype and expect a messiah to snap his fingers and solve all your problems?

Anyway, how many of these threads do you intend to start with the "hope...change...socialism....sarcastic "...followed by some breaking news that the economy's in the crapper.

Seriously. Enough already. You would never admit to liberal policies actually helping the economy (your mind conditioning has taught you that it is impossible) so what's the point of these threads besides just gloating about the struggles of millions of people?
Really..let me see unemployment 9.8% and rising... National Debt $12,000,000,000,000...and rising...yup Bluefly...the future is looking bright...On the contary I don't gloat about the struggles of millions of people..it just upsets me that Obama's polices are causing unecessary hardship...oh Yea...who said..... there is "great opportunity in the midst of" the "great crisis" befalling America. Gee... I really wonder whose gloating that Americans are suffering...

Well the immature "lol" at the end of all your 'obama gloom doom' posts suggest otherwise.

It would be nice if we had socialism, but we have not tried it. We are still running under the old corrupt capitalism that we were under with Bush. When we have 38 lobbyists to one senator we are not working under a socialist government, but a corrupt capitalist one. One where Wall street gets bailed out with our tax money and then Limbaugh asks who’s business it is that AIG gives bonuses out.

avoided the depression???? obama doing well??? new policies???

obama is bush on steriods

all obamy has done is FOLLOW BUSH'S STEPS and increase them

bush did a bailout,, obmay does many bailouts
obama keeps the SAME head of the fed
obama makes bush's NY fed head, the treasury head.....go figure that one,,,and a tax cheat to boot
obama keeps the same sec of def
obama still has gitmo open
obama keeps warrentless wiretaps
obama is still in iraq
obama has still kept freetrade,,,same as bush,,,nafta and its subs are the biggest problem of our job losses (nafta passed under the dem controlled congress in Dec of 93, and signed into law by clinton)
obama has kept the clinton/bush policy of CRA

liberal policies helping the economy????
you mean like NAFTA (50 million jobs lost),,, or the CRA (housing bubble anyone),,,,or making illegals legal with amnesty (like the 7 others since 1965 all written by ted kennedy),,,,,bailing out FAILED companies,,,,,or SAYING you will close gitmo (while not even having an idea what to do with the prisoners) and still not getting it done,,,,,or cap and trade which will double most peoples utility bill...............................some help

Republican or liberal,,, both the same,,,bought and paid for

did they bail out the PEOPLE who were underwater with their mortgages.....NO
did they save any jobs......NO (5 million jobs lost in the last year)
have they actually BUILT anything......NOPE

with all the money spent on bailouts of CORPORATIONS, we could have had a solar electric system installed on every single family home in america, and be done with electric companies for the residental american...and it would have created 100's of thousand of construction jobs to install the systems.......did the liberals even THINK about that...NOPE, they just want to pass a 'cap and trade' TAX on everyone, thinking that an additional tax would reduce a carbon footprint..............so much for progressive thought

jobs are still being lost
sales in almost everysector are DOWN (especially automotive down 50% from last year, and down 27% in one month since the C4C program ended)
and the next wave of foreclosures is coming.....not to mention repo's of the C4C cars that people bought and cant afford now that they lost their jobs

we are in for a rough ride, with some ups, but we still have a way to go on the down, before we STABILIZE (and we will sit FLAT for a while before any substantial rise)

Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- New York University Professor Nouriel Roubini said that action by governments and central banks has led to a “bottoming out” of the global recession and that there is “light at the end of the tunnel.”

In the U.S., “there are signs right now that the recession might be close to over,” Roubini, who gained notoriety for predicting the global financial crisis, said today in Istanbul. While he sees a U-shaped recovery, there remains “a risk” of “a double-dip recession.”
***
Right now, the main issue is the question” of reversing policies implemented to bolster economies from the crisis, Roubini said. Exiting from fiscal and monetary stimulus programs globally “is going to be a very difficult thing” and the timing of this is one of the factors that could lead to a double-dip recession.

He also said that some of the “optimism” in the financial markets “is excessive” and that the U.S. financial system is “still in deep trouble.”
***
“We will be dealing with the aftermath of the crisis for years to come,” IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said today in a speech in the Turkish city. The IMF predicts the global economy will expand 3.1 percent in 2010, led by growth in Asia, after a 1.1 percent contraction this year.

It's just so simpleminded to blame all interplanetary woes on Obama.

Still looking for an honest man, though if I were inclined to grade on the curve, but no, ...I don't even want to contemplate it. Turn your back and you get what you deserve. We now have what we deserve. Let's sit around and bewail the consequences, find a scapegoat to blame for our lack of discretion, and call it entertainment.
