Please take lots of valuables to your peaceful utopia for me to take when I INVADE!

LOL!

And again, can anyone point to one of the myriad utopian experiments that actually worked? That didn’t end in heartbreak and disillusion?

Utopian societies crumble because they work against the nature of man. It is intellectual fantasy. And in general it is either led by maniacal people who seek to dominate the weak, or it eventually becomes a haven to predators who find themselves surrounded by easy prey.

I’ve been having fun with the whole “I am invading” stuff…. But there is a point here. You cannot escape human nature. You can only seek to work within a framework that directs it. Utopian socialist societies don’t work because they don’t work in a functional framework.

Your welcome. Champagne can only be called Champagne if it comes from the "Champagne" region of France. The French are very stringent about that.

Quite true, and generally, more than one island is needed for resources and space. Look at Hawaii, once an independent country, several islands, and it did well, but was too weak still to stay free.

That's why I believe a libertarian micronation, based on our Constitution with some changes, would be far better. Utopias fail, but a system based on reality will work.

If anyone else is interested in these goals i invite them to discuss it or to join the socialist republic of zandrovia as they are currently seeking more dedicated citizens with a goal of creating such a community.

Was Rome Socialist? No! Let's be honest here, I don't think that if you think deeply about what has transpired here, you can call The American Experiment totally successful at this point. We are a very young nation when compared to many others. Capitalism has given way to Predatory Capitalism and Vulture Capitalism and that is why we find ourselves in this precarious position. Don't we find ourselves being preyed upon here? The foundation was strong, but it seems as if a house of cards was built upon it. Every society needs regulating as you will always have the less noble and ones with less integrity that will surface. Citizens of any society must always keep their eye on the ball. In the U.S. people are very easily pacified with expensive toys and and empty headed entertainment and now when the foundation is being threatened, some of us have opened our eyes and expect one party or ideology to fix everything. This has been a long time coming and it is yet to be seen how things mutate into something else.

Now, we are getting somewhere. Lets apply ^this^ idea to the nation that already exists. That's an idea I could get behind.........

Rather than looking for *other* places to erect this perfect society, why not try and fix the problems in the society we're all already living in?

If everyone had that abandon ship attitude, this country would be empty. If enough people actually organized and actually really did something Vs just talking about doing something, things would change. The world would be a better place.

While I applaud the ideas of those that want to establish someplace that isn't corrupt, hateful, and wasteful -- the thing that keeps popping into my mind is, Jim Jones.

Anyone remember that one or am I the only old fogey here?

I'm 100% supportive of any person or group, that has enough perseverance to at least try to make a difference. If no one tried anymore, we as a nation, as a world, as a people -- would fail.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make life better for others. There's nothing wrong with wanting to feed the hungry, heal the sick, care for the dying, provide shelter for the homeless, stop the abuses, put an end to crime.

It's almost like the whole world has lost sight of the most important goal there ever was -- peace.

@Lady Morgandy, thanks.
Your points at are the very heart of the matter. We are the richest country on Earth...and yet children are starving every day...we fight and quarrel over giving people the very basics of life...and that is something I will never understand.

Here is an excerpt from a recent address to the people that I think says it well....

The Dream of Zandrovia is a dream for our people, our children, and all of humanity. When I look at the fallen state of the world, even in the United States, and I see the homeless, the sick and the hungry, the suffering and the dying hidden in shadows masked by the cooperations of a corrupt world and I wonder why we settle for this when we could do, nay, when we could BE so much more. Sadly too many of our fellow souls have lost that dream.

So let it be reborn in Zandrovia, where we shall strive to create a shining example of what community and true civilization can be and to put aside our former, more base nature to help one another rise to a greater level of understanding to the betterment of ourselves and our fellow citizens. Let us hope that together we can create a peaceful world not only for ourselves but for future generations of every nation.

This will not be an easy task I know. But know this my fellow citizens, someone must take that first step, someone must be willing to stand up and say enough is enough and lead the way to a better life or else...we are all doomed to failure. Let it be those who share the dream of Zandrovia that come forward and take that first step.
