believe it or not, the world is not black and white. i am actually capable of having both positive and negative opinions about the products and actions of pharmaceutical corporations.
Should they televise the President and his family and all members of Congress lined up for and getting H1N1 flu shots to convince folks the vaccine is safe?
I don't think that'd be convincing enough. Half the people wouldn't watch because they are convinced that the President is sending subliminal messages on socialism to America's children.
Personally, I'm not getting the vaccine. Doesn't matter to me who gets it. I'm just not convinced that this whole H1N1 thing such a big deal.
H1N1 isn't a big deal,that is the problem,it doesn't kill that many of the people infected,it doesn't seem to be worth the worry and almost panic that various organisations and governments are showing.
So why are they being this way?
As to the POTUS getting immunised,I care little what he does but I imagine if the sheep need to be shown the way,what better way than having the lead sheep doing it?
if someone builds a really great school for poor kids and also murders a bunch of people, is it hypocritical to say the schoolbuilding was good but the murders were bad?
if someone says "all the teachers in that school are child molesters" and you know that they're not, the school is perfectly fine, is it hypocritical to say they're not, because the person who built the school is a murderer?
it's not hypocritical at all to say that the benefits of most if not all vaccines greatly outweigh the risks and also be critical of other things that pharmaceutical companies do. if you have to choose between supporting every single thing a person or entity does, or nothing, or be a hypocrite, then everyone in the world is a hypocrite.
I mean, darn, I likely have H1N1 now (I work as a research asst at NC State and we have a LOT of H1N1 infected folks). Been having a 100.4 fever the past two days. I'm very pleased I got it as I don't have to be immunized now.
The huge issue I have with the anti-immunization crowd in the US is the only reason people have the luxury of choosing whether or not to immunize their children is because of the successes of the mandatory immunization campaigns of the 50's/60's/70''s which effectively wiped out communicable childhood illness in this country. If it wasn't for those huge drives kids would be filling our hospital beds as they are in other countries with measles complications and pertussis. People who have not seen children dying from measles have the very misguided idea that most childhood illness comprises a fever for a few days, then back to normal. In countries where immunization rates are low and communicable disease rates are high, educated people are very much more inclined to vaccinate because they see the consequences of not vaccinating around them. As less and less people immunize here, numbers of childhood illness are surely going to creep up. How people can say immunizations are poisons is beyond me. Do these people live in cabins in the mountains, or are these people driving their kids around in polluted environments, feeding them processed food, and spraying their yards with pesticides exposing them to a multitude of toxins on a daily basis? If my children were to die from a highly preventible childhood illness, I would never be able to forgive myself.

LOL! The problem is, there's no way to tell if you are one of the ones who will die from it. You can 'risk model' it to death (pun intended), but there's always that element of chance.
It does seem that people are no sicker with Swine Flu than they are with any other flu. We have seen a lot of it here in Colorado.
The 'regular' flu is more deadly than H1N1,I guess I miss the near hysteria of the various organisations and governments over it every year.
When governments enact legislation to force quarantines upon people in the event of this you have to wonder why considering it isn't that big a health issue.
I understand it's supposed to prevent the possibility of cervical cancer. The chances of a cautious and responsible person getting both HPV and cervical cancer are very low. The vaccine isn't worth the problems it presents, as excessive vaccinations using mercury has been linked with autism.
No. There is no link between vaccines and autism.
Actually, only anti-vax idiots have claimed a link.
Further, this is about H1N1, not HPV - but still there are no specific "problems" identified for the HPV vaccine - other than the very low incidence of problems in any medical procedure. The risk from cervical cancer is much, much higher.
Look up the word. Having both positive and negative opinions about a given thing is not hypocrisy. You are just full of nonsense this morning.
