Ive posted this before in other threads, rlchurch is wrong has been proven wrong and as I said is using old findings to push propaganda. He is uninformed on this.

Calendar year 2008 was the coolest year since 2000, according to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies analysis [see ref. 1] of surface air temperature measurements. In our analysis, 2008 is the ninth warmest year in the period of instrumental measurements, which extends back to 1880 (left panel of Fig. 1). The ten warmest years all occur within the 12-year period 1997-2008. The two-standard-deviation (95% confidence) uncertainty in comparing recent years is estimated as 0.05°C [ref. 2], so we can only conclude with confidence that 2008 was somewhere within the range from 7th to 10th warmest year in the record.
They better pass their carbon cap & tax bill before more people wise up to this global warming farce.

The corporate greed heads see a way to get rich selling green energy to the public while getting free subsidizes from government.
The politicians gain power and control over the people with laws to govern every aspect of their lives. Like the threat of taking away the social security benefits of the elderly, they use the lies of man-induced global warming to beat their political opponents over the head with. They work in cahoots with the corporations by funneling free subsidizes their way, in exchange for campaign contributions, and support thru their many corporate allies, such as multinational conglomerates like GE, which brings with it NBC radio, TV, GE Energy and its GE Healthcare division.
The environmentalists get to expand their control over the lives of people thru influencing government on legislation, and they finally get to stick it to oil, gas and coal.
The science communities get to hold down a steady paycheck, paid for with large government grants, as long as they do their part in scaring the public with tales of catastrophic doom and gloom and creating the epicycles of man-made global warming, which keeps the whole scam alive and well.
Yup, because of global warming people here in Wisconsin are complaining on the "Garden Talk" shows of WPR, that they can't grow much of anything because of the cool weather and short growing period.
You are aware that the Greenland ice sheet is melting at an ever accelerating rate....as more dark surface area is exposed, this lowers the albido of the Island and with water flowing over the ice.....the two factors are causing a feed-back loop that within a few decades will melt thousands of cubic miles of ice.
Obviously this will cause sea levels to rise by at least 10 feet....actually closer to thirty, but I'll stay on the conservative side.
This however is not the MAIN threat from the icesheet melting. It is the disruption and shutdown of the ocean's thermohaline circulation. This is a global circulation affecting our entire planet and it's climate i.e. the Gulf Stream.
The volume of cold and fresh water flowing off of Greenland will lower the oceans temperature and salinity near the island. UNFORTUNATELY, it is the warmer temperature and higher salinity that drives this circulation.
The thermohaline circulation will collapse and the Gulfstream is part of this process. Europe, Asia and North America will experience another Little Ice Age at best and a "real' Ice Age at worst....we are long overdue for the next Ice Age and here is our ticket if we do not do something and fast.
Within one person's lifetime(a geologic blink of the eye)......our world will change for thousands of years, before the circulation can reestablish itself. This circulation is how heat from the equator is transferred around the planet. Without it, we are in BIG trouble!
Therefore, I actually agree with your thread title. The theory of Global Warming never inferred that it will get warmer everywhere...I really do not know where people have gotten this misinformation.
Two points for your high level of self-awareness ... however, snow in Chicago on Sunday is weather, not climate.
The past two plus years we have had below normal temps, not just a cold snap where we get a freak snow storm, but sustained colder then normal temps. Where I am at, we had 37 days straight, where temps were below normal. At some point, even a global warming enthusiast has to admit, that after years of below normal temperatures, it is no longer simply just scattered, freakishly cold weather events, its a cooler climate.
I know this is simple, but in order for it to snow in chicago, it first has to be cold enough for it to snow.

true, but national weather is also not climate, global weather is climate.
having the USA follow 1 doctrine while china and other countries dont follow the same doctrine is just plain stupid, and having the USA say that global warming is caused by only the USA and humans is stupid as well.
if the federal goverment wants to do a policy against global warming, then fine and dandy, but do not force it upon the people of the USA as well.

Global weather is not climate. It may be hotter or colder than normal all over the globe today. In fact it almost certainly is hotter or colder than normal all over the globe today, and tomorrow and the day after that. Climate is when those averages begin to change over long periods of time, as is currently happening.

It's not stupid, it leadership. China is already changing their approach to energy, but their per capita consumption and production of GHG is way below ours. We have to take the leadership position.

they are hedging their bets so that is why it is officially called "climate change" now, since they have no idea what is actually going to happen...
gore has now shifted his focus to production of green cars in finland with american taxpayer funding.
This is just another reason to distance yourself from the global warming crowd, they are using ignorant, easily frightened people to fleece the taxpayers for billions of dollars, all for their own selfish financial gain.
