Maybe Rlchurch has something to add to this? I am sure that the "wiki" site still has old data he can use to claim we are in a massive warm up!

They are quiet because they are busy doing "real science".

And while you are arguing over the definitions of insignificant points, the fact is that the "science" of the AGW crowd is being slapped so hard into the dunce corner that it will likely damage the reputation of climate science for many years to come.

The definition is irrelevant, the fact is that the entire position of "Global Warming", I mean "climate change" is falling apart. Keep defending it though, it is interesting to watch arrogant positions sink with their ship. In 3-5 years I can promise you that you won't be so quick to defend it, more likely you will be making excuses to avoid admission to that support.

Now which of those dates is exactly October 19? Why none of them! Counting this year, there are 4 years where the first snow came earlier and 5 that were later. See how math works?

But, but -- someone already said you cannot use one city to determine it, lets use the real scientist who have said global warming does NOT exist.

Record cold weather in 21 states this year tells me the global warming scam is over.

I was using Denver as a point, 21 states have record low temps for the summer this year, that is enough for me.

It is going to be 38 tomorrow in central Ohio.

Poor try at deflection. You were the one who argued that an October 10 first snow is not within the standard deviation for a city whose first snowfall is usually Oct. 19.

Kelsch said it's not unusual for the area to see its first snow in the second week of October

Kat,

An average is the arithmetic mean of a data set. If Denver was warming over time, which is the theory presented by GW scientists, wouldn't the average date move later each year? It would in fact be a "rolling average". Since the average has stayed constant (at least what I could find with a quick Google search), that tells me that this early snowfall is not particulary relevent. Conversely, neither are the dates in years that are LATER than the average date. When it becomes an issue is when the average date of first snowfall is December 25 or June 6.

Some argue that the hottest ten years on record have occurred recently. I could look at Denver and point out that the average last freeze date for the past 80 years is May 5, but the last ten years have all had their last freeze AFTER that date.

May 11, 2008
June 08, 2007
May 10, 2006
May 12, 2005
May 14, 2004
May 11, 2003
May 24, 2002
May 21, 2001

Does this indicate that it is getting colder in Denver?

Al Gore donated 100% of his prize money to charity. Obama is also giving his $1.4 million prize to charity.

I can't believe how rattled the Republicans get when a Democrat wins a peace prize. Says volumes.

Whatever happened to pride of country?

As you well know, you have to have more data than that. Most weather websites I have perused use 30 years of data when they compute averages. If you know anything about Denver weather, you know that there are wild fluctuations.

The hottest temps have been in the last few summers (though not this one). In fact, I think summer 2008 was the hottest on record. The summer of 2002 was also hotter than Hades (though I've never been there).

What I have to add is the science: 10 out of 10 of the warmest years in recorded history have occurred in the last 12 years. Those are the facts.
