NASA: LCROSS bombing of Moon, Oct. 9, 2009 (Depic)Commentary: The planned October 9, 2009 bombing of the moon by a NASA orbiter that will bomb the moon with a 2-ton kinetic weapon to create a 5 mile wide deep crater as an alleged water-seeking and lunar colonization experiment, is contrary to space law prohibiting environmental modification of celestial bodies. The NASA moon bombing, a component of the LCROSS mission, may also trigger conflict with known extraterrestrial civilizations on the moon as reported on the moon in witnessed statements by U.S. astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, and in witnessed statements to NSA (National Security Agency) photos and documents regarding an extraterrestrial base on the dark side of the moon.

If it's own-able... Someone on this planet will claim it. Most likely the US Gov if it can enhance their agenda in any way. Then we the people get the luxury of being taxed in every way possible because of it in the name of some crisis ! Sort of how things have worked over the last century right ?!

All this money on the space programme and this rediculous bombing on the Moon could have been used in the USA to help Education or Health. Complete waste of money but no Town Hall meetings over this stupidity.
The experiments NASA performed this week on the Lunar surface was not "ridiculous" whatsoever.
The fact is countries, like the United States will have colonies on the Moon in the next decade or so - and the need to know if there is water / hydrogen on the Moons surface is vital to those colonies.
So, IMO - and those of Millions of others, this mission was far from being a "complete waste of money". Just the opposite.
