And in which camp would Chucky Schumer be in for example ??

this from Wikipedia:

" Legislative Record

While serving in the House of Representatives, Schumer authored the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994 with California Senator Dianne Feinstein, which expired in 2004. The National Rifle Association and other gun groups (see gun politics) have criticized him for allegedly not knowing much about guns, pointing to various errors regarding the subject. Supporters of gun control legislation, however, give him much of the credit for passage of both the Assault Weapons Ban and the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act despite intense lobbying from opponents. The AWB, which restricted certain cosmetic features on semi-automatic rifles, expired in September, 2004 despite attempts by Schumer to extend it. He was one of 16 Senators to vote against the Vitter Amendment which prohibited funding for the confiscation of legally owned firearms during a disaster. "

Sounds like a liberal and gun control advoctae to me...

Ok, then I need to update my definition of LIBERAL, FLA. The way I see it, a liberal view includes the following: (this is more based on individual examples of "cases" where the following have been illustrated by the "left" side).

A lack of belief in personal accountability. (ex: guns, not people, kill people; "his abuse as a child caused him to (insert crime)"

A belief system that includes the government as THE responsible party for taking care of the protection, finances, and needs of all of it's country's people. And other country's people who are here illegally, apparently.
(Ex: to prevent murder, we must get rid of guns)

A belief in spending government money to solve most social problems.

A belief system that views the needs of (insert non-human creature) to be equal in value to those of human society.

A belief system that does not recognize the correlary between supply and demand. (Big business is evil incarnate)

A group of people whose illusions about reality and whose ideologies spell out a danger to the rest of us, because in order to protect what they view as GOOD, they'll do the best they can to influence the govnernment to regulate everything...and then attack government when it upholds the policies and rights THEY endorse if they don't agree with a certain instance (ex: free speech and Don Imus--the above concept was illustrated wonderfully by the fallout interviews with black rapper commentary).

It has been a while since I looked up the actual textbook definitions of "libertarian", "socialist" or "communist" so I could be very far off the mark on those. I understand you classify yourself as a Libertarian, FLA? Would you mind describing that further? Perhaps I need a lesson in terminology myself That's a genuine request, by the way.

Liberalism really only applies to social issues. Someone can be liberal, and for a free market (libertarian) or liberal, and or against a free market (socialist). Unfortunately, liberalism has become synonmyous with democrats. And conservativism has become synonymous with republicans. Conservatives, ideologically speaking, favor government social control. They're for censorship, prohibition, etc. Obviously, how extreme these are taken can vary.

Democrats who are for big government (enviromental controls, high taxes, political correctness) are what you would call authoritarian. The same goes for Bush's administration, he just comes from a different direction. Most of our politicians are authoritarian. In the end, they care more about securing their own power than securing liberty for the people.

If you've ever taken one of those political stance quizzes, where you see a graph showing your political standing, you've probably noticed there are 4 corners. One axis is how much social control you favor. The other axis is how much economic control you favor.

As for libertarians, themselves, there are even different stances, there. There are extreme libertarians, who are just a step above anarchists. Then there are moderate libertarians, like myself. I'm not for a 100% "free market" (I think it's an illusion). I believe corporations without control can be nearly as harmful as government control, so I believe in finding a balance. Unfortunately, this stance isn't very popular among many libertarians.

With Lautenberg's name on this bill that's exactly what it means. Do you think for one minute if that bill said that all "suspected terrorists will be questioned in Gitmo" anyone favoring the anti gun bill would accept that?

What BS. I can't wait to move out of NJ.
